A passenger plane operated by Russia's Ural Airlines made an emergency landing at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport after reports of a technical problem with its engine, Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement on January 3.
The Ural Airlines Airbus A321 carrying 236 passengers was en route from Sharm El-Sheikh airport to the Russian city of Yekaterinburg. The incident occurred just 10 minutes after takeoff.
The pilot requested an emergency landing after receiving reports of a sudden technical failure in one of the engines.
The plane landed safely at Sharm El-Sheikh airport at 16:55 local time (14:55 GMT) thanks to the coordination of all parties involved. Fire trucks and ambulances were also dispatched to the scene, while all passengers were safely evacuated to the international departure hall, the statement said.
Specialist technical teams then inspected the aircraft to determine the cause of the malfunction and make the necessary repairs.
