Nguyen Van Chung shed tears when watching Tung Duong's MV 'Continue the story of peace'

On August 25, singer Tung Duong released the MV "Continue the story of peace" , the second music product marking his collaboration with musician Nguyen Van Chung - author of many famous songs associated with aspirations and love for the homeland.

The song " Writing the next story of peace" was composed by Nguyen Van Chung 2 years ago. Singer Duyen Quynh was the first to perform the song on large and small stages.

By 2024, thanks to a spontaneous remix on social media, the song suddenly became "viral", reaching billions of views and appearing frequently in art programs. In particular, when performed at the April 30th Ceremony with a duet by Dong Hung - Vo Ha Tram, the song truly touched the hearts of millions of viewers.

The peak was when Tung Duong performed this song for the first time at the national concert "Fatherland in the Heart" in front of 50,000 spectators at My Dinh Stadium. With the majestic Epic Rock arrangement, the performance created an earthquake in the Vietnamese music industry, affirming the special position of the song in contemporary music life.

The MV "Continuing the story of peace" is the second music product marking his collaboration with musician Nguyen Van Chung.

From the perspective of the song's composer, musician Nguyen Van Chung expressed his respect and gratitude to the singers who performed Continue the story of peace as each person brought a unique nuance to the song, with their own audience. However, after witnessing and enjoying Tung Duong's performance at the national concert, he assessed that the male singer was the one who expressed the spirit of this song most accurately, exactly what he wanted to convey when composing it.

"If it weren't for Duyen Quynh, no famous singer would sing this song at that time. I'm grateful to Duyen Quynh for her perseverance. I'm also grateful to someone who remixed this work, so that on the occasion of the 30/4 Grand Festival, the song was chosen to be performed. The moment it was sung at the Grand Festival, the song with the voices of Vo Ha Tram - Dong Hung touched the hearts of the audience. I don't deny that. This is a song that is both emotional and majestic. If one of those two elements were missing, it would no longer be Continue the story of peace . In Tung Duong's version, I found the most complete and powerful thing," Nguyen Van Chung affirmed.

For Tung Duong, the decision to invest in a MV for this song came not only from his love for the melody and lyrics, but also from his deep sympathy for the message the song conveys: "I made this MV also from my passionate love for my homeland. I want young people to be able to feel more clearly the noble sacrifices of previous generations so that they can appreciate today's peace."

In the MV, Tung Duong plays the role of a revolutionary soldier, transforming into the fierce atmosphere of the battlefield and the historical moment when the red flag with yellow star fluttered in the sky of independence.

The music arrangement for the MV was handled by musician Nguyen Huu Vuong. He combined a symphony orchestra with Cinematic, Epic Rock and choir elements, creating a harmony full of energy but still modern. The arrangement helps Tung Duong's powerful voice to sublimate at the climax, bringing out the heroic and brilliant colors of a triumphant song.

"I have known Nguyen Van Chung for a long time. When I first heard Continue the story of peace , I saw many singers singing very well, but from a musician's perspective, what is more important is the compatibility between the song and the singer's voice. And the first person I thought of was Tung Duong. I always cherished the idea that one day I would definitely let Tung Duong sing this song.

When performing the national concert "Fatherland in the Heart" , the crew discussed Tung Duong's participation, so I immediately suggested including this song. For me, it doesn't matter whether Duong sings well or not, Tung Duong has to sing. I had made a few arrangements before and the one for Tung Duong was the third version, but it was also a special version, only suitable for him. Duong's voice is inherently full of power, so the arrangement had to be full, strong, and powerful enough to match. This is the only version that can only be for Tung Duong."

The MV was directed by young director Nguyen Viet Dung. He chose a cinematic storytelling style, alternating between the past and present, with large war scenes combined with smoke, fire... and historical documentaries. The appearance of actress Lan Thy - the muse in the film Em va Trinh, brings a soft symbol, representing the generation continuing the tradition of their ancestors.

The MV opens with the familiar theme song of Voice of Vietnam , recalling the sacred historical moment of the nation. Throughout the MV, the image of a veteran recounting the past to his children and grandchildren is interwoven, like a connecting thread between memory and the present.

Musician Nguyen Van Chung was moved: "I was moved to tears when watching the MV. This song is like a child growing up through each stage, each companion. Coming to Tung Duong, I see this as the most complete version."

Director Nguyen Viet Dung also affirmed that the crew did not care about what they would gain from participating, but all of them devoted themselves to creating a meaningful artistic product to send to the audience during important holidays.
