Chinese news outlets revealed that Dai Yingluo passed away in the early morning of March 14th in Beijing, China, at the age of 82. The passing of this talented screenwriter is a great loss to the Chinese theater and arts community. On his personal page, Lu Xiaolingtong, who played Sun Wukong, posted a black-and-white photo of them together, sadly announcing the news. The actor called Dai Yingluo his teacher and good friend. Wang Chongqiu, the cinematographer of Journey to the West , also shared the news and expressed his sorrow, saying that the three screenwriters of this classic series have now met in heaven.

Dai Yingluo was born in Heilongjiang, China. After graduating from the Chinese Department of Heilongjiang University, he began working at the Chinese Opera Theatre and wrote scripts for many stage productions, including *Butterfly Love Flower*, *Wang Zhaojun*, and *Li Qingzhao*. Notably, he, along with Zou Yiqing and Yang Jie, served as the scriptwriters for * Journey to the West* (1986). Their contribution to this classic work stemmed from their deep understanding and appreciation of Wu Cheng'en's masterpiece, their respectful approach to the original text, and their careful adaptation and creation of new details. Dai Yingluo received numerous prestigious awards for his contributions to Chinese art and was honored as a national first-class scriptwriter. According to Baidu , he was formerly the director of the Chinese Writers Association and the Chinese Literature and Drama Association.
Dai Yingluo was the last of the three screenwriters of Journey to the West to pass away. Yang Jie, the director and screenwriter of the film, died in 2017. Meanwhile, screenwriter Zou Yiqing passed away in 2019.

Journey to the West is a familiar work to a large Vietnamese audience, having been repeatedly broadcast in Vietnam for over 30 years.

Journey to the West is a television adaptation of the novel of the same name by Wu Cheng'en. Directed by Yang Jie and directed by Wang Chongqiu, the series features a cast including Liu Xiaolingtong, Ma Dehua, Chi Zhongrui, and Yan Huaile. Filming began in 1982, aired in 1986, and quickly became a classic of Chinese cinema, gaining immense popularity in many Asian countries, including Vietnam. Forty years after filming began, the original cast and crew are no longer complete. Besides the three screenwriters, many key figures who contributed to the series' success – Yan Huaile ("Sha Seng"), Zheng Rong ("Taishang Laojun"), Zhu Bingqian ("Taiyi Tianzun"), and costume designer Wang Xizhong – have passed away.
