Recently, the culinary app Dianping, the most famous and trusted culinary review platform in China, ranked singer Chi Pu's La Ganh 2.0 restaurant at the top of the list of Vietnamese restaurants in Shanghai.
Dianping is the most popular platform for reviewing restaurants, destinations, and entertainment venues in the country of a billion people. This platform is likened to a combination of Google Maps and TripAdvisor, where restaurants and destinations compete fiercely to get their names on the "golden board".
Therefore, of course, being in the Top 1 in a category of this platform is not easy, especially for a foreign culinary brand.

Checking the image displayed on Dianping in the Cuisine category with the option "Vietnamese Food" on May 14 shows that La Ganh 2.0 is in the top position with a popularity score of 96.07 points. In second place is Saigon Bistrot with 95.8 points. Right after is Pho VieThin with 95.7 points.
This information immediately surprised many people because Chi Pu's food service business at this location has only been in operation for more than a year but has already affirmed its position in Shanghai.
It is known that in October 2023, Chi Pu opened the first Vietnamese restaurant in this city on Dien Binh Street, Tinh An District. The restaurant is located on a street that is not too busy but visitors can find it easily. The space inside has only one row of tables, making many people think of a Japanese-style noodle restaurant with about a dozen seats.
At the time of its opening, this establishment attracted public attention in both Vietnam and China. Many Vietnamese customers also came here to enjoy it. A 79 yuan (VND285,000) combo will include a bowl of pho, a poached egg, a fried dough stick with a cup of lotus tea or coffee.

The restaurant serves well-done and rare beef, but no beef balls. The accompanying condiments include garlic vinegar, chili sauce, and fresh chili. Ms. Hanh Thu, a Vietnamese customer who has dined there, said that the price of a bowl of pho at the restaurant in a city with an expensive cost of living like Shanghai is considered "on par with the general market."
In February 2024, Chi Pu continued to open a second location called La Ganh 2.0 in a large shopping mall in Shanghai. This time, the restaurant did not limit itself to serving only pho, offering customers nearly 100 diverse Vietnamese dishes and a variety of drinks. In August 2024, the location on Dien Binh Street closed.

Some of the restaurant's outstanding dishes include fried crab with black pepper, dried papaya salad with shrimp chips, beef stew with bread, spring rolls with meat filling, lemongrass and lime chicken feet, beef ribs marinated in sauce, spring rolls with peanut sauce, boiled vegetables with kho quet sauce, buttered toast...
Previously in her sharing, Chi Pu said that the name La Ganh was inspired by the carrying pole which is considered a familiar image, associated with pho stalls in the early morning on the street corners of Hanoi . With this name, she hopes to spread Vietnamese culture to international tourists.
Shanghai is known as the "consumption capital" of China, where the food service industry is particularly developed.
The city is estimated to attract an average of more than 9 million international visitors each year.
This is where visitors can enjoy a variety of cuisines, from street food to Michelin-starred restaurants.
