About a month ago, Tre Publishing House released the latest research book by researcher Nguyen Dinh Dau titled The public land and land regime in the history of land reclamation and settlement in the six provinces of the South . This book contains many valuable documents and assessments for studying the history of the South, from the perspective of agricultural development and land ownership.

The latest work of researcher Nguyen Dinh Dau has a detailed introduction by Professor of History Phan Huy Le, President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, with extremely valuable comments: "I have read with interest and carefully read the book The public land and communal land regime in the history of land reclamation and settlement in the Six Southern Provinces by historian Nguyen Dinh Dau. What attracted my attention and interest is that the author, with specific documents, led the reader into three centuries of land reclamation and settlement full of hardships and achievements of the people of Southern Vietnam, it always arouses the reader's awareness with new discoveries and proposals".
It is known that researcher Nguyen Dinh Dau was born on March 12, 1920 (birth certificate shows 1923) in Hanoi .
In 1941, he graduated from the Polytechnic School (Hanoi), then worked as the head of a technology workshop. After the August Revolution, when the Provisional Government was established, he was appointed as the economic secretary to Minister Nguyen Manh Ha. In 1951, he went to France to study at the Catholic University of Paris, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1953.
During his time in France, he and intellectuals Hoang Xuan Han, Nguyen Manh Ha, and Nguyen Ngoc Bich participated in the movement calling on the French Government to negotiate with the Ho Chi Minh Government; in 1954, he and the above intellectuals went to Switzerland to support the delegation led by Mr. Pham Van Dong to attend the 1954 Geneva Conference.

In early 1955, he returned to Vietnam to become a history and geography professor at Nguyen Ba Tong High School in Saigon (now Bui Thi Xuan School). In the 1960s, he began publishing his research in the Southern press and was recognized by researchers as a prestigious scholar. Besides, he was also an active fighter for peace; he was considered a "third force" (moderate) in Southern politics. In 1975, he was sent by Vice President in charge of peace negotiations Nguyen Van Huyen to Davis Camp to negotiate a ceasefire.
From 1975 to present, he has continued to research and publish historical and geographical research works, especially research works on the issue of Vietnam's sovereignty over the East Sea.
Researcher Nguyen Dinh Dau was honored to receive the Tran Van Giau Award twice, the second time for the work series Research on land registers and land of the Nguyen Dynasty in the six provinces of the South (including 8 volumes).
