Composer La Van Cuong passed away at the age of 67.

The news of musician La Van Cuong's passing on November 30th has saddened his family, colleagues, and fans. On his personal page, musician Tran Que Son shared that just four days ago, he had coffee with La Van Cuong to discuss a post-Tet live show for him. Therefore, musician Tran Que Son was deeply shocked by the sudden death of his colleague.

Composer Tran Que Son shared on his personal page: “ Oh, my dear, a cup of wine for a lifetime / Drain away the tears as we see you across the river… Farewell, composer La Van Cuong. You are one of the great composers from Quang Nam province with hundreds of songs, some of which are frequently sung by the audience, such as 'Sometimes,' 'Garden of Love,' 'Then There's a Time,' 'Finding the Shadow '… The melodies and lyrics of composer La Van Cuong are quite good, with lasting vitality… A group of friends is planning to hold a farewell concert for you in the near future.”

According to the obituary, the funeral of musician La Van Cuong will be held at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda. The embalming ceremony will take place at noon on November 30th, and the funeral procession will begin on the morning of November 2nd. Afterwards, his remains will be cremated at Binh Hung Hoa crematorium in Ho Chi Minh City.

Composer Lã Văn Cường was born in 1957 in Hanoi. He began writing music in the 1970s, working alongside composers such as Nguyễn Đức Trung and Lê Văn Lộc. Drawing inspiration from the style of a young volunteer, Lã Văn Cường's music not only included songs calling for national reconstruction but also resonated with the youthful desires for love. In 1976, he rose to prominence in the music world with the song "On the Road of Life," featured in the film " Jade in the Stone." This is considered one of the songs most closely associated with the youth volunteer force.

Composer La Van Cuong also served as the director of the Lang Ong - Ba Chieu historical site. Throughout his career, he composed over 400 songs in various genres, leaving a lasting impression on audiences with songs such as "Co Doi Khi" (Sometimes), "Vuon Yeu" (Love Garden), "Ngoc Biec" (Jade), "Khuc Chia Xa" (Farewell Song), "Dinh Menh" (Destiny), "Ngon Ut Trai Tim" (Little Finger of the Heart), "Tim Bong" (Searching for the Shadow)... Notably, his most famous songs were all performed by singer Hong Nhung.
