(NLĐO) - The Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper has continuously provided information and extensively promoted Long An province, contributing to the overall development of the locality.

On February 10th, in Long An province, the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper organized the "New Year's Gathering for the Representative Office in the Mekong Delta Region".

Implementing various programs in Long An

Attending the program were Mr. Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from the leadership of various departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities in the province; leaders of the Can Tho City Labor Union, Tien Giang province, etc.

Speaking at the event, Dr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, said that Nguoi Lao Dong was one of the first media organizations to open a representative office in the Mekong Delta region, located in Can Tho City since May 1, 1998. To date, after 27 years of formation and development, the Mekong Delta representative office of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper has become an important bridge between the newspaper and the local Party committee, government, and people.

The Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper collaborates with most provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region in its propaganda efforts, contributing to the promotion of information and communication about the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations at the local level. The newspaper has been commended and rewarded by leaders of provinces and cities in the region.

Alongside content creation activities, the Party Committee and Editorial Board of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper also directed the Mekong Delta Regional Representative Office to regularly connect with localities to implement programs beyond the newspaper's pages. Notable among these are the "Proud of the National Flag" program, the "Scholarship Program to Support Ethnic Minority and Poor Students," the "Golden Apricot Blossom Gratitude" program, and the "Bringing Schools to Candidates" program…

Mr. Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, said that the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper has extensively publicized and promoted Long An province, contributing to the province's overall development.

To date, the "Proud of the National Flag" program has donated and signed agreements with 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region, totaling 427,750 flags. Long An is one of the localities receiving the most national flags, with 54,500 flags to be used in the "National Flag Routes".

The "Scholarship Program to Support Ethnic Minority and Poor Students" has awarded over 1.5 billion VND in Long An. This is also the locality with the highest number of scholarships in the region.

The "Mai Vàng Tri Ân" (Golden Apricot Blossom Appreciation) program has reached many prominent artists and intellectuals in the region. Today, the program visits one People's Artist and one writer from Long An province.

Dr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, along with the head of the Mekong Delta Regional Representative Office, presented a symbolic plaque donating 3,000 flags to the leaders of Long An province and the Long An Provincial Youth Union.

The annual exam season counseling program "Bringing Schools to Candidates" is broadcast live on television in various localities throughout the region. In Long An province, it has already been held in Tan An City and will continue on March 8th at Hau Nghia High School in Duc Hoa district.

Mr. To Dinh Tuan stated that in recent years, Long An has consistently ranked first in the Mekong Delta region in terms of budget revenue, becoming an ideal destination for domestic and foreign investors. This demonstrates the province's strong breakthrough. Regarding journalistic activities, Long An is also one of the localities with a leadership team that is always close to, caring for, and creating favorable conditions for mainstream media to operate, including the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

"We hope that in the period 2025-2030, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper will continue to cooperate with Long An province in disseminating information and implementing meaningful programs of the newspaper," emphasized Dr. To Dinh Tuan.

Contributing to local development

Mr. Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, stated that with its unique geographical location as the gateway to the Mekong Delta, Long An plays a crucial role in connecting trade between the Mekong Delta region and other provinces and cities, especially Ho Chi Minh City. Over the years, Long An has achieved many significant socio-economic development accomplishments.

Mr. Bui Thanh Liem, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, presented a symbolic plaque representing 100 scholarships to the leaders of Can Giuoc and Thanh Hoa districts.

In 2024, Long An province achieved and surpassed all 21 targets set by the Provincial People's Council Resolution; its GRDP growth rate reached 8.3% (ranking third in the Mekong Delta region). This is the highest growth rate since the beginning of the term. The province's state budget revenue exceeded 25,000 billion VND for the first time (reaching 26,500 billion VND); the province's investment and business environment has significantly improved and is highly appreciated by the business community…

The Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee stated that the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper has made many important contributions to the development of Vietnamese journalism in general and of Long An province in particular.

Recognizing these valuable contributions, on May 27, 2022, the People's Committee of Long An province and the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper signed a cooperation program for the period 2022-2025 to implement comprehensive and holistic cooperation, identifying key and specific contents for each year.

On average, the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper (specifically its representative office in the Mekong Delta region) publishes over 150 news articles annually on various fields of socio-economic development, education, tourism, national security and defense, etc.; thereby providing strong information and promotion about Long An province.

At the gathering, the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper continued to donate 3,000 flags from the "Proud of the National Flag" program to officials, soldiers, and people of Long An province to implement the "National Flag Road" program.

On this occasion, the "Mai Vàng Tri Ân" (Golden Apricot Blossom Gratitude) program presented gifts and honored two artists: People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh and Lieutenant Colonel, writer Nguyen Hoi. People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh has received numerous awards, including: Gold Medals at the National Cai Luong Theatre Festival in 2015 and 2018; commendations from the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2020, and the People's Committee of Long An province for many years…

Writer Nguyen Hoi is currently a Lieutenant Colonel, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Long An Provincial Border Guard, and a member of the Vietnam Writers Association. He has many works such as: Borderlands in the Colors of Water; Becoming a Son-in-Law in the Western Region... He has won many awards from the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Vietnam Literature and Arts Magazine, etc.

In addition, the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper also donated 100 scholarships, worth 100 million VND, from the "Scholarship Program to Support Ethnic Minority and Poor Students" to ethnic minority and poor students in Can Giuoc and Thanh Hoa districts, Long An province.

Mr. Pham Tan Hoa informed that 2025 is a very important year, a year with many significant historical events, a year of "reaching the finish line" in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress; the year of organizing Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term; and especially the year of achieving the "dual goal" of both streamlining the apparatus and exceeding the set political plans, targets, and tasks.

Long An province hopes to continue receiving the affection, attention, support, and companionship of the Editorial Board, the Mekong Delta Regional Representative Office, functional units, and reporters and journalists of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper in the development of Long An province in 2025 and the following years.

"I suggest that the departments, agencies, and localities of Long An province continue to pay attention, create favorable conditions, and proactively coordinate closely with the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper to further improve and enhance the effectiveness of information dissemination and promotion of Long An province," Mr. Pham Tan Hoa emphasized.

At the New Year's gathering, the People's Committee of Long An province awarded a certificate of commendation to the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper for its achievements in contributing funds to social work in 2024.
