Tam Vu 2 110kV Substation: A key project to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Given the rapidly increasing load in the Tam Vu area and surrounding regions of Tay Ninh province, the requirements for the power system are not only "sufficient capacity," but also "ensuring reliable power supply," flexible operation, reduced losses, and improved voltage quality on the distribution grid.

Driven by this urgent need, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has implemented the investment and construction project of the 110kV Tam Vu 2 substation and connecting power lines. This is one of the key projects aimed at bringing electricity "ahead of schedule," creating room for the development of industrial, service, and residential loads.

During the project's construction, EVNSPC Board Member Le Hoang Oanh (on the right) closely monitored the construction site to expedite progress.

The urgent need for synchronized investment in the 110kV power grid.

The Tam Vu 2 110kV substation project is designed with a capacity of 2 transformers (63MVA each), with 1 63MVA transformer installed in the initial phase. It is designed as an unmanned substation, fully integrating multi-level control and monitoring functions and SCADA connectivity according to the IEC 61850 protocol.

At the 110kV level, the Tam Vu 2 110kV substation is organized according to an "H-shaped" scheme in the completion phase; this phase focuses on installing bays for immediate operation, while also preparing components for the next phase of implementation according to the investment roadmap.

The accompanying 110kV connecting line has a scale of 2 circuits, a length of nearly 9km, connecting from the existing T51 pole area of the Tam Vu 110kV substation connection line to the 110kV busbar of Tam Vu 2 110kV substation.

The line uses 2xACSR 240/32 conductors and incorporates lightning protection wires, including an OPGW-50 component for communication purposes. According to EVNSPC, the total estimated construction cost for the project is over 147 billion VND.

In Phase 1, the 110kV Tan Vu 2 substation will have one 63MVA transformer installed, designed as an unmanned substation.

The project's noteworthy aspect lies not only in its technical scale but also in the "correctness and effectiveness" of its operational objectives upon commissioning. Upon completion, the project is intended to meet the load demand of Thuan My commune, An Luc Long commune, Tam Vu commune, and surrounding areas, while simultaneously improving voltage quality, reducing power losses on the regional distribution grid, and easing the load on the existing 110kV Tam Vu substation.

At the 110kV grid level, adding a new node enhances connectivity, improves power supply reliability, and aims to meet the N-1 criterion; on the other hand, it facilitates operational linkages with neighboring substations, contributing to the promotion of local socio -economic development.

Overcoming difficulties to ensure electricity supply for development.

The biggest challenge in the construction of 110kV power lines currently focuses primarily on compensation and land clearance, especially in areas located on agricultural land and residential land, which affect the long-term livelihoods of the people. Therefore, this work always requires perseverance, caution, and consensus. Consequently, coordination with local authorities and relevant departments is always intensified, including organizing numerous meetings, developing construction protection plans, creating plans to persuade households with outstanding issues, and ensuring security, order, and safety throughout the project implementation.

Once operational, the project will significantly contribute to enhancing the safe and stable electricity supply for the Tam Vu - Tan Tru area and its surroundings.

With the close guidance of EVNSPC, the determination of the leadership and staff of Tay Ninh Power Company, and the support of the local government and people, obstacles have been gradually overcome. For the staff of the power industry, each 110kV project is not only a professional task but also a political responsibility and a source of professional pride.

EVNSPC leaders, especially Board Member Le Hoang Oanh, closely monitored the construction site, visiting weekly to inspect progress and resolve difficulties to ensure the project was completed on schedule. Many coordinated measures were implemented, such as increasing the number of construction teams, adjusting the construction plan to suit weather conditions, flexibly allocating resources, and persistently promoting and mobilizing public support to create strong consensus among the people.

Aware of this importance, many technical staff and workers accept being away from their families for extended periods, living and working at the construction site, even on weekends and holidays, making the most of every hour and day to meet deadlines. The spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain, working diligently" has become a common atmosphere on the construction sites, creating a vibrant competitive spirit among the construction units, and among the teams and individuals participating in the project.

The Tay Ninh Power Company is filled with joy and pride as the project is inaugurated to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Long-term significance

After the 110kV Tam Vu 2 substation and connecting power lines come into operation, they will significantly contribute to strengthening the safe and stable power supply for the Tam Vu - Tan Tru area and its surroundings; reducing power losses, reducing the medium-voltage power supply radius, improving voltage quality for customers, contributing to improving the quality of life for people, ensuring local energy security, and promoting sustainable socio-economic growth.

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of labor emulation on construction sites, the collective of cadres and employees of Tay Ninh Power Company continue to uphold the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, creativity, and determination to "accelerate towards the finish line"; to complete and energize the 110kV power lines and substations on schedule, with quality and safety – contributing to bringing reliable electricity to every household and business, accompanying the development of the locality.

Due to its importance and the vibrant labor emulation movement, the project was registered by the EVNSPC Party Committee with the Vietnam Electricity Group, and was simultaneously inaugurated nationwide to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party. This is a source of joy and pride for Tay Ninh Power Company as well as EVNSPC ahead of the upcoming Congress in early 2026.
