At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized: The project to restore and upgrade the North Nghe An irrigation system is of particular importance in the socio -economic development of Nghe An province. Upon completion, it will contribute to reducing flooding in 15,000 hectares, increasing the area of stable irrigation by an additional 9,164 hectares, and increasing food production by approximately 134,000 tons annually. This is a multi-purpose project, providing water for industry and daily life, increasing drainage capacity, and contributing to upgrading infrastructure in the area. The project has comprehensively upgraded the North Nghe An irrigation system, increasing the irrigated area while also contributing to upgrading and improving the canal infrastructure within the beneficiary area.

Looking ahead, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed that Sanyu Consultants Inc. continue to research and advise on the Southern Nghe An Irrigation Project. Currently, the Southern Nghe An Irrigation system is severely degraded. The project to upgrade this system is expected to have a total investment of 3,500 billion VND, equivalent to 144.81 million USD. This is a necessary project to implement the Government and local climate change response programs, especially the program for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in rice production to create carbon credits, aiming towards the national Net-0 target by 2050.
