On August 10, the workshop "Science and technology innovation to promote Vietnam's socio-economic development in 2023" took place in Ha Giang .
The workshop was jointly organized by the Central Propaganda Department, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the People's Committee of Ha Giang province. The workshop was attended by more than 200 delegates, including leaders representing departments, ministries, branches, central agencies, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Ha Giang province; leaders of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of provinces and cities, leaders representing corporations, enterprises, and scientists nationwide.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, said that the event aimed to summarize the organization of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, evaluate the awarding process and the scale of application of the Award.
According to Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, the organization of the Awards 28 times in the past time is a remarkable success in the process of building and developing the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, contributing significantly to the implementation of the tasks assigned by the Party and the State to the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the VIFOTEC Fund as well as local Unions.
"Thousands of award-winning projects have been researched, applied, and deployed in the fields of socio-economics and security and defense, making important contributions to the cause and miraculous achievements in the country's recent renovation process," emphasized Dr. Phan Xuan Dung.
The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, together with the Ho Chi Minh Award and the State Award, is gradually affirming its position and brand, contributing to creating a movement of research and innovation among intellectuals and workers nationwide, making positive contributions to the country's industrialization and modernization.
At the same time, according to Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, in order to continue promoting the successes of the 28th organization, the Organizing Committee of the Award will coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and provinces and cities nationwide to continue to innovate thinking as well as take drastic actions to improve the quality and reputation of the Award. Continue to focus on works in the fields of science and technology with high applicability; some interdisciplinary fields between natural sciences and science and technology.
"Thereby, to make science and technology become a direct productive force, the awards are truly associated with the results and achievements of scientific and technological products," said Dr. Phan Xuan Dung.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Hoang Gia Long, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province affirmed that in recent years, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Ha Giang province have always paid attention to and created favorable conditions for intellectuals to contribute creatively and positively to the socio-economic development of the province.
Currently, Ha Giang has more than 28 thousand intellectuals. The province's intellectuals actively participate in all fields of work, holding important positions in Party and State agencies, socio-political organizations, and enterprises; playing a core, direct, and leading role in research, innovation, and application of scientific and technological knowledge into practical activities, creating material and spiritual values to serve people's lives and the development of the province.
"The workshop is an opportunity for all levels and sectors of Ha Giang to raise awareness of the role and position of the Award and Competition in motivating and encouraging scientists inside and outside the province in creative activities, scientific research, application of science and technology to serve production and life, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the country in general and Ha Giang province in particular," said Mr. Hoang Gia Long.
In addition, strengthening the connection and cooperation for mutual development, in order to exploit and mobilize the potential and strengths of the scientific and technological intellectuals to contribute to the rapid, strong and sustainable development of Ha Giang as well as localities across the country. This is also an opportunity for Ha Giang to exchange, interact, learn and hope to receive valuable and quality contributions from the scientific and technological intellectuals nationwide.
