In Yen Chau, one of the difficult mountainous and border districts of Son La province, the rate of poor and near-poor households remains quite high. According to the results of a review conducted during the 2021-2025 period, there are 1,168 poor and near-poor households in the district facing housing difficulties and in need of repair or new construction, requiring attention and support from the State and the community.

To achieve the goal of eliminating 100% of housing for poor households in the district, the Party Committee, the government, and the Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Chau district have focused on mobilizing maximum resources to help disadvantaged households ensure adequate housing; reviewing, surveying, compiling lists, and providing financial support to eliminate temporary housing, ensuring that the support is given to the right people and is appropriate.

At the local level, the Fatherland Front Committees have played a pivotal role in mobilizing the community, organizations, and individuals to support the "For the Poor" Fund, focusing on prioritizing assistance for poor households living in remote, disadvantaged, or particularly difficult areas, or those suffering from prolonged illnesses, elderly people living alone, or single women, to build new, more spacious and sturdy homes. With the decisive involvement of the entire political system, in May, Yen Chau district announced the completion of the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, achieving the goal one year ahead of schedule.

The entire district has supported the construction of 1,000 new houses and the repair of over 100 houses, with a total budget of over 38 billion VND. Of this, over 13 billion VND came from social contributions from agencies and units, and over 25 billion VND was contributed by the people in terms of money and labor.

Along with Yen Chau, at the end of April 2024, Phu Yen was also one of the 10 districts and towns in Son La province that announced the completion of the temporary housing eradication program for the 2021-2025 period. The entire district completed the support for the elimination of 564 temporary houses for poor households. Of these, 474 houses were newly built, and 90 houses were repaired to meet the "three solid" criteria (solid walls, solid roof, solid ...

After more than three years of implementing the "Mobilizing Resources to Support Poor and Disadvantaged Households in Housing, 2021-2025" project, thousands of sturdy and well-built houses have been constructed. Mr. Vi Duc Tho, Chairman of the Son La Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, affirmed that the support and assistance provided to thousands of poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged policy-beneficiary households in the province to build new or repair their homes demonstrates the high level of effort and determination of the Party committees and authorities, the active participation of the Fatherland Front and other political and social organizations, and the community. Each completed new house means another poor household will have stable housing, thus enabling them to work and produce with peace of mind, and strive to escape poverty.

According to statistics, to date, Son La province has supported over 8,400 households in eliminating temporary housing with a total budget of over 340 billion VND. Ten out of twelve districts and cities have completed the task of eliminating temporary housing for poor households and those facing housing difficulties in the 2021-2025 period.

To achieve the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary housing for poor households in Son La by 2025, Mr. Vi Duc Tho stated that the Party committees and authorities from the provincial to the grassroots level have coordinated with the Fatherland Front and other mass organizations to proactively and thoroughly review the matching capacity and resources of each family in order to develop specific support plans. With the highest determination, the Fatherland Front at all levels is focusing on promoting propaganda and mobilizing maximum resources from organizations and individuals to support the "For the Poor" Fund, thereby spreading the spirit of helping the poor and striving to complete the elimination of temporary housing in Thuan Chau and Mai Son districts on schedule as planned.
