The notable point in the draft revised and supplemented National Technical Regulation on mirrors for automobiles (Standard 33:2019) is the general technical regulation, adding the following content: Mirrors for automobiles must have a clear, easy-to-read and difficult-to-erasure manufacturer's brand or logo. All mirrors must be adjustable. The reflective surface of the mirror must be flat or convex.
National technical regulations on mirrors for automobiles will have many amendments and supplements to suit the reality and regulations of ECE.
At the same time, the draft also unifies the concept of the term Camera-Monitor System (CMS).
This is a system of equipment used to observe the rear, side or front of the vehicle within the observation range of this standard by combining camera and screen.
In which, the camera is a device that records images of the outside world and then converts this image into a signal (video signal) and the monitor is a device that converts the signal into images displayed in the visible spectrum.
Thus, the term Camera-monitor (CMS) in Standard 33:2019/BGTVT will be replaced by the term Camera-monitor System (CMS) in the new Standard.
The draft also amends the regulations on mirror types. In particular, rearview mirrors are considered to be of the same type if they have the same brand, manufacturer, manufacturing address and there are no differences in the main technical characteristics. In addition, the mirror must have the manufacturer's brand or logo, which must be clear, easy to read and difficult to erase.
Regarding the type of camera-monitor system, the draft Regulation stipulates that camera-monitor systems are considered to be of the same type if they have the same brand, manufacturer, manufacturing address and there is no difference in the main technical characteristics such as: Design of the camera-monitor system including vehicle connection details if any; CMS type, viewing range, magnification and resolution.
For dual-function mirror and CMS systems (also known as CMS Type I), the draft regulation requires that the system must have a display located behind the semi-transparent mirror in accordance with this standard. The display is in CMS mode.
The head of the Motor Vehicle Testing Center said that the above amendments and additions are to suit the actual situation as well as the regulations of the European Economic Commission (ECE), thereby contributing to improving the quality of vehicles and ensuring traffic safety.
