Promote socialization
From December 2024 to now, from the socialized capital of 8.2 billion VND, localities in Phu Tan district have started to build 4 concrete bridges. The bridges are located in important locations, connecting many hamlets, with a large volume of vehicles, students and goods transportation. Typically, Phu Binh canal bridge, connecting Binh Phu 1 and Binh Phu 2 hamlets, worth about 2.8 billion VND, is in charge of construction by the Phu Binh Commune Bridge and Road Construction Team. Chairman of Phu Binh Commune People's Committee Nguyen Le Hoang Minh said that the policy of building the bridge was proposed and the people strongly supported it. At the groundbreaking ceremony, the commune received resources of over 1.1 billion VND, expected to be constructed within 90 days. In addition, the commune appreciates the contributions of people and benefactors, from 50,000 - 100,000 VND to 200 million VND. Mr. Nguyen Van Vu (Phu Binh commune) shared: "I was born and raised in this hometown. When I heard that the locality was mobilizing funds to build a canal bridge, I discussed with my family to support 100 million VND to help the locality soon complete the policy, so that people can have convenient travel conditions, so my family all agreed."
Recently, Phu Thanh and Phu Thanh communes inaugurated and put into use An Thuy 5 bridge, a project registered to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels (term 2025 - 2030). Chairwoman of Phu Thanh Commune People's Committee Ly Thi Le Hang informed that the project has great significance for the people of the two communes, because Go Ba Gia hamlet, Phu Thanh commune and Phu Quoi hamlet of Phu Thanh commune are the two most difficult and remote hamlets, with a very low percentage of local people working, most of them "leaving their hometown" to work far away. Having a solid concrete bridge is something that people have never thought of like the "frontage" communes. Because income from farming is still low, contributing enough funds to build the bridge is a distant thing, not knowing when it will be completed.
Mobilizing resources to build rural bridges in Phu Tan island district
Many kind-hearted people have turned to their homeland, such as: An Thuy family and Mr. Doan Huu Thoai contributed 500 million VND; MMSS5 group, friends and family contributed 150 million VND; Saigon Friends Group (Ho Chi Minh City) contributed 150 million VND; Mr. Vuong Tan Dung (Long Xuyen City) contributed 100 million VND... Over the past three months, the companionship and financial and material support of sponsors, people inside and outside the commune have contributed to the completion of An Thuy 5 bridge on schedule and with quality. The project put into use has solved the problem of agricultural production during the harvest season, people and children no longer have to travel 3-4km of detours to cross the canal as they do now. Kind-hearted people inside and outside the district contributed materials, 580 days of labor... Mr. Ho Van Hoa (Phu Hung commune) works as a construction worker, earning a few hundred thousand VND a day to help his family make ends meet. When he heard people inviting him to help pour concrete to build a bridge connecting the two communes, he was happy and willing to participate. By making practical contributions, those who have money contribute money, those who do not have money contribute effort, with the greatest wish being to contribute so that the locality can soon have the conditions to develop.
Rural road and bridge development
Currently, the road traffic network of Phu Tan district includes: National highways, provincial roads, district roads, urban roads and rural roads (RTR), with a total length of 348.099km; there are 109 bridges. Regarding waterways, Phu Tan is adjacent to 4 major rivers managed by the Central Government, including: Tien River, Hau River, Cai Vung River, Vam Nao River; there are 19 main inter-commune canals with a length of 105.8km managed by the District People's Committee. In the period of 2021 - 2024, 11 concrete bridges have been socialized, with a total investment of more than 21 billion VND, of which socialized capital is over 19.3 billion VND. In addition, the National Target Program on New Rural Construction has invested in upgrading 42 asphalt and concrete projects (14 asphalt projects, 7 reinforced concrete projects, 21 cement concrete projects), with a length of 70km.
According to the plan for socialization of investment in the construction of rural traffic bridges in Phu Tan district in the period of 2025 - 2030, the locality's goal is to implement the motto "The State and the People work together". Mobilize investment resources to replace some rural traffic bridges that are currently degraded, no longer ensure traffic safety, or do not meet the traffic needs of vehicles serving production and business according to the trend of socio -economic development. To develop a synchronous, sustainable rural traffic infrastructure system, with unified scale and technical standards, convenient traffic infrastructure to encourage businesses and investors to increase production and business in rural areas, and soon complete the National Target Program on new rural construction.
The scope of implementation is mainly on routes to commune centers, inter-district and inter-commune roads, inter-hamlets and roads to fields serving agricultural production. Socialized rural traffic bridges must be solid, meet quality and have a lifespan according to the prescribed rural traffic bridge design standards. In the period of 2025 - 2030, Phu Tan district is expected to build a total of 26 bridges on Than Nong canal routes and inter-district and inter-commune roads from mobilized social capital, the district budget supports the cost of consulting, surveying and designing, and preparing construction investment documents.
