From the score distribution of 12 subjects in the high school graduation exam announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, it can be seen that the average score of all subjects decreased compared to last year, except for physics.
Of which, math decreased the most, from 6.45 to 4.78 points. The only thing is, last year math did not have a score of 10, but this year there were more than 500 candidates who scored 10.

With a score of 4.78, math is also the subject with the lowest average score among the 12 subjects whose scores were announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of July 15.
Next is English with an average score of 5.38.
Some experts say that only 12% of candidates scoring 7 points or higher in math is too low, and more than 56% of candidates scoring below average is too high.
Nationwide, there were 936 candidates who failed (1 point or less) in the high school graduation exam, of which 777 were in math, 10 times more than last year.
The average score for chemistry dropped by 0.62 points, from 6.68 to 6.06. Physics alone increased from 6.67 last year to 6.99 points.
Physics is also the subject with a record increase in the number of 10 points compared to this subject in recent years.
The percentage of good and excellent scores also dropped sharply in many subjects, especially math and English. Only 12% of candidates scored 7 or higher in math. Last year, this figure was over 45%.

The English subject with good or excellent scores also decreased by more than 10% compared to last year, although this is an optional subject this year. The number of candidates decreased from more than 900,000 to more than 300,000.
It is worth mentioning that only candidates who are confident and consider this subject as their strength will choose to take the exam. The English test is very difficult to demonstrate through such numbers, not through a good score range.
" This is a good score range, but it is more suitable for university entrance exams than graduation exams," said an English teacher.
According to this teacher, taking the graduation exam does not mean that students only need to have enough points to graduate, they need to be recognized and evaluated correctly for what they learned in high school.
Dr. Pham Thanh Ha, Head of Training Department, University of Transport, analyzed: “Last year, more than 900,000 students took the English exam, the median score was 5.2, which means 450,000 candidates had a score below 5.2 and 450,000 students had a score greater than or equal to 5.2.
This year, about 350,000 students took the English test, the median score was 5.25, meaning that only 175,000 students scored higher than 5.25. The 460,000 last year and 175,000 this year are telling numbers. The English test this year was very difficult, even though the median was the same.”
