Experience Villa Escudero: Indigenous Retreat Amidst Nature Laguna Philippines

If there is a place that can take you away from all the hustle and bustle, bring you back to the pure rhythm of life and harmony with nature, it is Villa Escudero. Located in the Laguna region - about two hours drive from the capital Manila, this place is like a door opening to a rustic world, full of cultural colors and emotions. And my experience at Villa Escudero was truly a memorable journey, where all the senses were awakened by the sounds, flavors and peace of the Philippine countryside.

Journey to nature – Get on a carabao, immerse yourself in memories

Entering Villa Escudero , the first thing that made me feel strange and excited was the carabao. This is a traditional means of transportation associated with the lives of Filipino farmers . Not an electric car, not a modern tourist bus, but a black buffalo slowly pulling a wooden cart through rows of green palm trees, taking me through a vast coconut plantation.

The folk music from the rustic ukulele on the car, along with the sound of the wheels grinding gently on the red dirt road, made me feel like I was traveling through time, back to the peaceful countryside that only existed in movies. The air here is not only fresh but also full of the scent of the fields and wind, very different from any resort I have ever experienced.

Experience Villa Escudero – Let your soul relax with the water and native nature

The most interesting thing about Villa Escudero is that you not only get to relax, but also really slow down, to "touch" the rustic experiences that the city has made us forget. Like rowing a bamboo raft on the calm river in the middle of the tree-lined campus. At first, I was a bit clumsy, but the feeling of gliding on the water, with only the rustling of leaves and my laughter because of the swaying... was truly relaxing.

For families with children, there is also a small swimming pool and water park, enough for children to play comfortably in the open space, while adults can take advantage of the sunbathing or sip a cool coconut on a bamboo bench. The whole resort exudes a rustic, friendly atmosphere, from the architecture to the service, true to the local Filipino resort style that I have been waiting for.

“Kamayan” Lunch by the Falls – When Food is Part of the Experience

I can’t help but mention Labasin Waterfalls restaurant . This is where I had one of the most unforgettable lunches of my life. At a bamboo table placed right at the foot of the artificial waterfall, you will enjoy traditional Filipino food in the “kamayan” style – meaning eating with your hands.

The feeling of eating delicious local dishes, soaking your feet in cool water, surrounded by the sound of waterfalls and the fresh green forest air... is truly a combo that satisfies all senses. I almost forgot that I was "traveling", because this place made me feel like a part of the land, no longer a "guest visiting the house".

Folk Art – Drums, Dances and Fascinating Cultural Stories

After lunch, the journey was not over yet. Local artists invited me and the tourists to a small stage in the middle of the village. There, they performed traditional Filipino dances, from the lively Tinikling (bamboo dance), to the quiet melodies that tell the story of working life, love and identity in Laguna.

Without the need for modern effects or a grand stage, their performances still captivate the audience. Each dance is a slice of culture, each piece of music is a breath of ancient life that is completely preserved. This is what makes the Villa Escudero experience not just a resort, but also a profound and emotional cultural journey.

After walking around Villa Escudero, I suddenly realized: sometimes traveling doesn't need to be grand, nor does it necessarily require "checking in" at famous places. Sometimes, all we need is a place like this to "live slowly and feel deeply", to separate ourselves from technology, from deadlines and truly reconnect with nature, people and culture.

If you are looking for a place to “breathe”, to feel light-hearted, to understand more about Laguna Philippines tourism and to touch the true local life, then try to travel to the Philippines to Villa Escudero. Because there, you are not just a tourist, you will become a part of the village story being told with all sincerity, simplicity and love.
