According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs , the implementation of the vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region remains a central focus of the meeting's agenda. Ministers reviewed progress in cooperation and discussed regional and international issues, promoting collaboration in key areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, strategic minerals, clean energy, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, disaster response, and maritime security.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of efforts by the US and Iran to reach a viable agreement to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Restoring this vital shipping lane and mitigating the impact on global energy markets and the economy was a prominent topic of discussion.

At the meeting, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar highlighted the region's challenges, such as supply chain resilience, connectivity bottlenecks, concentration of manufacturing resources, and gaps in essential infrastructure, while emphasizing the need for enhanced coordination among members to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region that continues to drive global growth.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on members to strengthen cooperation in addressing challenges, especially by taking concrete actions on key maritime security and mineral issues.

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi emphasized that Indo-Pacific nations need to strengthen their resilience and the necessary capabilities to determine their own future, including economic security.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong also emphasized that countries in the region need to be guaranteed the freedom to choose their security and development.
