This is the third time Vietnam has welcomed a US aircraft carrier (the previous visits were in 2018 and 2020). The visit to Da Nang is part of activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership (2013-2023).

The visit to Vietnam by the US Navy fleet contributes to maintaining and developing Vietnam - US relations, in line with the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership.
This event continues to affirm Vietnam's capacity to ensure logistics and technology in welcoming foreign ships; contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam in the region and internationally.
During the visit to Da Nang City, the commander of the US Navy Ship will pay a courtesy call to the leaders of the Da Nang City People's Committee and the leaders of the Naval Region 3 Command.
Groups of officers and crew members participated in a number of activities in Da Nang, including cultural and professional exchanges, community service projects, sports competitions and cultural receptions.

Arriving in Da Nang on this occasion, two escort cruisers, the USS Antietam (CG 54) and the USS Robert Smalls (CG 62), will dock at Tien Sa port, while the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan will anchor offshore.
USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) is assigned to the US 7th Fleet, tasked with supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The 7th Fleet is the US Navy's largest forward-deployed fleet, regularly coordinating and operating with US allies and partners around the world.
