According to AFP and Sputniknews, on May 20, a group of unidentified gunmen attacked the Qatar Embassy in Sudan.
"The State of Qatar strongly condemns the storming and vandalism of the Qatari embassy building in Khartoum by armed forces. The embassy staff was evacuated earlier and... no diplomats or embassy staff were injured," the Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry once again called on all parties to immediately stop the fighting in Sudan, exercise maximum restraint... and avoid causing harm to civilians.
Qatar did not specify which force was responsible for the attack, but a statement from the Sudanese government blamed the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In recent weeks, the embassies of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Türkiye have also been attacked.
The attack on the Qatari embassy came a day after Arab leaders called on Sudan's warring sides to stop fighting at an Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia.
Following the attack, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Arab Parliament and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned and protested the attack.
In a statement, the GCC strongly condemned the attack on the Qatari embassy in Sudan and denounced all forms of violence and vandalism targeting diplomatic missions.
GCC Secretary General Jassem Albudaiwi reiterated his call on the parties to the conflict in Sudan to promptly end military activities, exercise maximum restraint, avoid escalating violence, respect international agreements as well as diplomatic norms to ensure the dignity and safety of diplomatic missions and personnel.
Mr. Albudaiwi also called on Sudanese factions to seriously engage in negotiations in the Saudi city of Jeddah, aiming to reach a comprehensive political solution to bring security, stability and prosperity to the country and its people.
On the same day, the Arab Parliament issued a statement condemning the incident and emphasizing the need to not harm diplomatic missions and ensure the security of diplomatic staff, while calling on all parties in Sudan to strictly and immediately implement the ceasefire and return to political dialogue.
The Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry also expressed its total rejection of all forms of violence and sabotage against diplomatic missions.
Saudi Arabia calls on all parties in Sudan to abide by the ceasefire agreement, in line with the results of recent talks between the two sides in Jeddah, and to engage in a political roadmap aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive solution to the crisis in Sudan.
The statements were made after the Qatari Embassy in Sudan was attacked by unidentified gunmen on the same day. This is not the first time a foreign diplomatic mission in Sudan has been targeted./.
