
Currently, the raw materials for broom making are sourced from the districts of Que Son, Tay Giang, Dong Giang, and Nam Giang, and also imported from Laos. However, according to experienced broom makers, the broom grass from the western part of Quang Nam province is of higher quality than elsewhere because it is lighter in color, smoother, and more durable, resulting in stronger and more robust brooms.

Mr. Nguyen Nhat Tuan, Director of Nhat Tuan Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative (Chiem Son village, Duy Trinh commune), said that to make a broom, one starts by stripping the reeds, tying them into small bundles, then combining them into larger bundles, and finally braiding them together with rattan cord.

Every day, Mr. Tuan's facility produces nearly 2,000 brooms of various types, with a market nationwide. Approximately 20 workers, mainly elderly people, disadvantaged individuals, and people with disabilities from the village, are employed, earning between 4 and 6 million VND per person per month.

Chiêm Sơn village (Duy Trinh commune) currently has about 200 households participating in broom production, providing regular employment for more than 300 local workers...
