Như Vân crowned Miss Global 2025

On the evening of March 9th, Nguyen Dinh Nhu Van, 34 years old, from Lam Dong province, a single mother of two, beat 60 other girls from around the world to win the Miss Global 2025 crown in the final held in Bangkok (Thailand).

The moment her name was announced as the winner, Nhu Van burst into tears. Reigning Miss Universe Ashley Melendez from Puerto Rico crowned her amidst cheers and applause from the audience.

The new Miss Vietnam said: "I am truly happy to be the first Vietnamese beauty queen to win this competition. I am very grateful for the support and encouragement from the audience, especially back home."

The titles of first and second runner-up went to the contestants from Jamaica and Puerto Rico, respectively.

In the finals, Nhu Van made it to the top 20, then the top 12 alongside contestants from Belarus, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, Indonesia, Jamaica, Venezuela, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, the United States, and Japan.

In the evening gown competition with the top 12, she chose a design by designer Do Long, embellished with shimmering golden crystals, inspired by the image of rice stalks laden with grains in the vast rice fields of Vietnam. On stage, she impressed with a beautiful dress twirl, showcasing her alluring figure.

Entering the presentation round, she received the keyword "Amazing Thailand". As Van said: "Amazing Thailand is not just a slogan for Thai tourism , but also reflects life here - the places, the food, the natural landscapes, and most importantly, the people."

The people of Thailand welcomed us with radiant smiles and open hearts. I love you, Thailand." She then made it into the top 5 finalists alongside contestants from the USA, Jamaica, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico.

In the Q&A round, Nhu Van shared her perspective on the quote: "You can kill me with hatred, but I will still rise up like air." The beauty queen recounted that a large part of her life was wasted running away from anything that could hurt her.

She said, "But standing here today, being myself and empowering myself, I realize that my legacy is not just for myself, but for all other women. At any age, you can pursue your dreams, do what you want, as long as you believe in yourself and love yourself before loving others."

Như Vân made it to the top 3 along with two contestants from Jamaica and Puerto Rico. They both answered the question: "The motto of Miss Global is: 'Empower, embrace, embody'. Please share with us what you experienced the most and what you learned from being a part of Miss Global during your two weeks participating in the competition?"

As Van replied, "In the two weeks I spent with the empowered women here, I learned how to empower myself, step out of my comfort zone, and become the person I want to be, pursuing my dreams."

Secondly, it's about promoting my beloved country, Vietnam, so that people can see the diversity of our culture and the love we have for each other. That's something I'm very proud of.

The third thing is embracing your inner beauty. Beauty may fade, but love and legacy are eternal. Finally, I want to share the sisterhood at Miss Global. That's something I'm proud to be a part of."

Nguyen Dinh Nhu Van was born in 1991 in Lam Dong province. The beauty is 1.74m tall with measurements of 90-63-91 cm. Nhu Van has worked as a professional model for many years and was the runner-up in The New Mentor - All-Round Model 2023 competition.

She also served as a coach on the reality show The Next Gentleman 2024 , and directed the catwalk for Miss Vietnam and Miss World Vietnam.

On February 16th, at the event announcing the Vietnamese contestant for Miss Global, Nhu Van unexpectedly confirmed that she is single and a single mother of two daughters. The model revealed that she and the father of her second daughter have never officially registered their marriage.

She revealed her fulfilling life with her two children: "My two children are always supportive and by my side on every journey."

Miss Global, first held in 2011, has rules limiting contestants to ages 18-35, and allows married women and mothers to participate. The competition promotes women's empowerment, inner beauty, and celebrates diverse cultures.

Previously, many Vietnamese contestants had tried their luck, with the best result belonging to Doan Thu Thuy - 4th Runner-up. This year, the competition took place in Cambodia and Thailand from February 24th to March 9th, bringing together 60 beauties from around the world .
