At the handover ceremony, Mr. Le Trong Dam, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper, shared: “We are very pleased that in the early days of the year, despite the busy schedules of local leaders, the program was still organized solemnly to personally deliver meaningful gifts to poor students in Lai Chau.”

This is a practical and humane activity, demonstrating deep concern for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. "These bicycles are not only a means of daily transportation but also a spiritual gift, providing motivation for the children to overcome difficulties and confidently go to school," Mr. Le Trong Dam affirmed.

The leader of the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper added that every time the delegation visits Lai Chau, they clearly feel that the lives of the people there are still full of hardships. This further motivates the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper and local authorities to strive to act as a bridge to call on businesses to accompany and support the local economic development and implement more meaningful charitable programs in the future.

"Accompanying Children to School" is a charitable program implemented for over 20 years by the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper in collaboration with the Thien Tam Foundation (Vingroup Group), which has provided tens of thousands of bicycles to poor students in many localities. The program not only supports their learning conditions but also instills confidence and motivation in them, helping them overcome difficulties and stay committed to their education.

Ms. Mai Thi Hong Sim, Secretary of the Party Committee of Khong Lao commune, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper and the Charitable Foundation for their attention and organization of the program for disadvantaged students in Khong Lao commune and neighboring communes.

She said that after the merger, the commune quickly made arrangements to ensure learning conditions for the students. However, due to the large area, mountainous roads, and the fact that many students live far from the school, transportation remains difficult. The new bicycles donated this time are a practical gift, helping the children travel more easily to class.

Looking ahead, the commune leaders hope to continue receiving the support of the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper and philanthropists through various charitable programs to assist poor households. This will also be a source of motivation for the locality to strive even harder in socio-economic development.

Representing the students who received the bicycles was Lo Thi Hoa, a 6th-grade student at Muong Than Secondary School (Muong Than commune, Lai Chau province), the youngest of four siblings. The school is more than 3 kilometers from her home, and Hoa has to wake up very early every day to get to class on time, a journey that takes more than two hours each day. Even during the cold winter months, on the bumpy, dirt- and gravelly mountain roads, she has never missed a day of school, persistently walking to school on her small feet.

Today, receiving her new bicycle, Hoa couldn't hide the joy shining in her eyes. Hoa shared: “This is the first bicycle our family has ever owned. Thanks to this bike, I can get to school more easily. My parents are farmers, so they only take me to school on the first day of school, and the road is steep and bad. Thanks to this bike, my sisters can take me to school every day.”
