From clearing canals and removing overgrown bushes to practical work serving people's lives, the "Military-Civilian Joint Efforts" projects implemented by the Command of Defense Zone 2 - Son Dong in coordination with local authorities have contributed to improving the rural environment and serving the production and daily lives of the people.

Through these concrete actions, the bond between the military and the people at the grassroots level continues to be strengthened, contributing to extending this bond.

Blending "the will of the Party and the aspirations of the people"

From early morning, along a 600-meter-long canal in Tan Hung hamlet, Hung Khanh Trung commune, nearly 200 cadres, militia soldiers, front-line forces, youth union members, association members, and local people divided up the tasks. Some cleared bushes, others collected fallen trees, and still others waded into the canal to pull out branches, restoring the waterway to facilitate agricultural production. The cleared canal facilitates irrigation, especially for households growing seedlings and ornamental plants in the area.

Mr. Dang Hoang Tho, from Tan Hung hamlet, shared: "Thanks to the attention of local authorities and the collective efforts of the people, this canal was built to facilitate water flow and irrigation for the villagers, so everyone agreed." What impressed him even more was the work ethic of the officers and soldiers, who were not afraid of difficulties and hardships to ensure the project was completed successfully.

According to Mr. Tran Van Thuoc, Secretary of the Tan Hung Hamlet Party Branch, there were sections of the canal flooded with water, making the task of pulling out trees and clearing weeds difficult, but the officers and soldiers still coordinated smoothly with the local authorities to complete the work.

Participating in this activity were primarily militia forces from the training cluster, comprising the communes of Hung Khanh Trung, Phuoc My Trung, Tan Thanh Binh, Nhuan Phu Tan, and the wards of Ben Tre and An Hoi. For the soldiers, this was a practical lesson on the role and responsibilities of local military forces in the area. Mr. Dang Vu Minh, the permanent militia squad leader of the Phuoc My Trung commune Military Command, said that this activity helped the soldiers better understand the meaning of being close to the community; and at the same time, further enhanced the image of the Ho Chi Minh's soldiers in the people's trust.

According to Ms. Nguyen Le Thuy Tien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Khanh Trung commune, the project demonstrates the spirit of "the Party's will and the people's aspirations" blended together, deepening the close bond between the military and the people. Based on the initial success, the locality will continue to mobilize the strength of the entire political system to replicate suitable initiatives, contributing to building new rural areas and improving the lives of the people.

Focus on the grassroots level and closely meet real needs.

The "Military-Civilian Cooperation" model continues to be implemented by the Command of the 2nd Regional Defense Force - Son Dong in Nhuan Phu Tan commune. This is the fourth project in this civilian mobilization campaign, demonstrating a strong focus on grassroots initiatives, selecting tasks that closely meet practical needs, and using the effectiveness of serving the people as a measure of success.

Leaders of the Regional Defense Command 2 - Shandong visited and encouraged militia soldiers facing difficulties in Nhuan Phu Tan commune.

Along the approximately 2km stretch of canal from Thanh Tay hamlet to Xom Go hamlet, nearly 200 militia members, along with local officials, organizations, and residents, mobilized to clear weeds, dredge mud, collect garbage, and remove vegetation obstructing the canal's flow. On each section, the forces coordinated in groups, ensuring timely completion while creating a vibrant work atmosphere in the residential area.

Major Vo Thanh Trieu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Nhuan Phu Tan Commune Military Command, said: After receiving the civilian mobilization plan from the Zone 2 Defense Command - Son Dong, the Commune Military Command coordinated with departments, agencies, and mass organizations to conduct a field survey and advise the Commune People's Committee on developing a plan and assigning specific tasks to each force.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a resident of Xom Go hamlet, thanks to the support forces, the canals and waterways are now clear and the landscape is cleaner. The people are very happy and ready to support efforts to make the village roads and canals even cleaner and more beautiful. “The officers, soldiers, and participating forces all worked enthusiastically and decisively. This has inspired a spirit of working together to build a clean, beautiful, and civilized hamlet,” shared veteran Nguyen Van Minh from Thanh Tay hamlet.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hoang, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Nhuan Phu Tan commune, this project further demonstrates the spirit of solidarity between the government, armed forces, mass organizations, and the people. She stated: "The people contributed labor and materials, actively cooperating and supporting the militia forces in completing their tasks." Through this, the spirit of responsibility and camaraderie between the military and the people continues to spread, contributing to building a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful Nhuan Phu Tan commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thanh Phong, Deputy Commander of the Defense Command of Zone 2 - Son Dong, stated: "In the past period, the Party Committee and the Defense Command of Zone 2 - Son Dong have effectively led and directed efforts to improve the quality of training, combined with propaganda and mobilization of the people. In addition, the unit organized visits and presented gifts to disadvantaged families of policy beneficiaries in the area during the first year of militia training in 2026. At the same time, we focused on propaganda and education to raise awareness among militia soldiers. The unit, together with local departments, organizations, and the people, carried out concrete tasks with profound significance, further strengthening the bond between the military and the people."
