From exploring vibrant cities and relaxing on tranquil beaches to experiencing local culture and venturing into peaceful countryside, Vietnamese travelers are choosing a diverse range of destinations to fully enjoy their Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday.

Notably, many high-speed ferry routes have sold out during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday, such as the Rach Gia - Nam Du, Tran De - Con Dao, and Rach Gia - Hon Son routes, while some trips on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route are also gradually filling up... However, travel agencies predict that with the holiday lasting only 3 days, most tourists tend to allocate their time and budget to the April 30th - May 1st holiday.

From coastal experiences to mountain retreats

Commenting on the trend of Vietnamese tourists choosing destinations through online booking platforms like Booking.com, Varun Grover, Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam, said that Vietnamese tourists prefer diverse explorations with destinations spanning from the North to the South, including beaches, mountains, and urban areas.

Coastal cities like Da Nang , Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, and Mui Ne, renowned for their pleasant climates and picturesque coastlines, continue to be popular choices for Vietnamese travelers seeking seaside holidays.

Da Lat, a highland resort city, attracts tourists seeking a cool climate and beautiful natural scenery. Meanwhile, centers like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are suitable for short getaways exploring culture and vibrant urban life, while the two historically significant destinations of Hue and Hoi An are particularly appealing to those interested in learning about Vietnamese culture and rich heritage.

Flight search data on Booking.com also reflects the diverse travel preferences of Vietnamese tourists, with destinations spanning from North to South. Accordingly, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, and Phu Quoc are the most searched domestic destinations, demonstrating the enduring appeal of coastal regions.

In addition, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, and Hue are also on the list of popular destinations for travelers seeking relaxation and cultural experiences during their holidays.

Going out via a nearby route is the preferred option.

During this year's Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday, Vietnamese tourists actively explored both domestic and international routes, with nearby destinations in the Asia-Pacific region being a top priority.

They seek short international trips with diverse experiences, from urban exploration to relaxing getaways. Among these, nearby destinations in Asia are increasingly popular and account for a large portion of the top 10 most searched international destinations.

With its affordable costs, diverse and vibrant culture, and the characteristic liveliness of a city, Thailand continues to be a top choice, with Bangkok being the most searched-for international destination, followed by Tokyo (Japan) and Seoul (South Korea). Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Singapore, Osaka (Japan), Hong Kong, Ubud (Indonesia), Kyoto (Japan), and Taipei (Taiwan, China) also feature on the list, reflecting the diverse travel preferences of Vietnamese people.

“With Vietnamese travelers increasingly seeking more meaningful experiences, we’ve seen a significant increase in their interest in destinations that combine relaxation, cultural exploration, and adventure. The upcoming long weekend during the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday presents a great opportunity for them to realize these trips,” said Varun Grover, Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam, commenting on the trend of Vietnamese travelers choosing destinations through online booking platforms like Booking.com.
