Many areas are about to experience thunderstorms.
According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, today (May 28th), the Central and Southern regions of Vietnam will experience localized showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 28th exceeded 30mm in some areas, such as: Ky Thuong (Ha Tinh) 66.6mm, Tu Tra – Don Duong (Lam Dong) 46.6mm, Ben Cat ( Ho Chi Minh City) 38.4mm, etc.
Forecasts indicate that from the evening of May 28th to May 29th, the Northern and North Central regions of Vietnam will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall amounts of 15-30mm, and locally heavy rain exceeding 80mm (rain concentrated in the evening and night).

Many areas experienced heavy thunderstorms this afternoon.
The area from Khanh Hoa , Lam Dong and Southern Vietnam: showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 15-30mm, locally heavy rain exceeding 70mm. Other areas of the Central Highlands: showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-20mm, locally heavy rain exceeding 50mm (rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, transportation infrastructure, and other facilities. Localized heavy rainfall may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas. The warning level for natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is Level 1.
The intensity of the heatwave has decreased.
According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, on May 28th, the Northern region experienced hot weather with temperatures at 1 PM generally ranging from 35-36 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in some areas such as: Yen Chau (Son La) 37.3 degrees, Hoa Binh (Phu Tho) 36.3 degrees, Bao Lac (Cao Bang) 36.6 degrees, Lang (Hanoi) 36.8 degrees, Nho Quan (Ninh Binh) 36.7 degrees, with relative humidity at 1 PM generally 60-65%; the area from Thanh Hoa to Ho Chi Minh City... Da Nang and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak are experiencing hot and intensely hot weather with temperatures at 1 PM generally ranging from 36-38 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 38 degrees Celsius in some areas such as Con Cuong (Nghe An) 38.3 degrees, Huong Khe (Ha Tinh) 39.0 degrees, Tuyen Hoa (Quang Tri) 39.2 degrees, etc. Relative humidity at 1 PM is generally 50-55%.
On May 29th, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City, and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak experienced hot weather with maximum temperatures generally ranging from 35-36 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in some places; the lowest relative humidity was generally between 55-60%.
Warning: From May 30th, widespread heatwave will end in the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak. Heatwave-related natural disaster risk level: Level 1.
Due to the combined effects of intense heat and low humidity, there is a high risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased electricity demand, and an increased risk of forest fires. Furthermore, the heat can cause dehydration in people who are exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.
Please note that the temperature forecast in heatwave reports and the actual perceived temperature outdoors may differ by 2-4 degrees, or even more, depending on the surface conditions such as concrete or asphalt.
