The learning process helped the female artist gain more knowledge about national culture and history, while also broadening her vision, helping her to more deeply perceive the role of art in preserving and promoting cultural values.

It is the combination of cultural knowledge and painting skills that has created a Vu Thuy Mai with a unique artistic style, closely associated with the beauty of national cultural heritage.

I love nostalgia, love detailed descriptions and am always fascinated when carefully interpreting that meticulousness. This helps me calm down, look at life more slowly, bringing balance to life. - artist Vu Thuy Mai.

Slow, nostalgic, meticulous... few people believe that this is the portrait of a painter of the 9x generation. Vu Thuy Mai has a hobby of collecting old things, many objects that seem to be no longer usable, forgotten such as old door frames, tables, chairs, old cabinets, old vases... are all sought and bought by her, even many items she has picked up, turned them into her own works or drawings.

With a sensitive soul and endless passion, artist Vu Thuy Mai always desires to express the beauty of life and cultural values through silk painting techniques. The material contributes to creating a soft, magical effect in every line.

With silk, many artists use the "painting wash" technique to create color spread, but Vu Thuy Mai chooses to let the colors reveal their own beauty. Each color is meticulously chosen by her, from warm reds and yellows to cool greens, all expressing a deep insight into space and time.

"Spring Shades 01" - one of 5 works in the "Spring Shades" series, watercolor on silk, size 100x60cm.

"Ancient motifs, national treasures, brown-flowered ceramic vases from the Ly - Tran dynasty, blue-flowered ceramics from the Early Le dynasty, signed porcelain from the Le - Trinh dynasty... the traces of time shown on them always make me feel interested in expressing my feelings and emotions in my paintings... I want the works to not only stop at aesthetic beauty but also have depth", artist Vu Thuy Mai shared.

I love the flower seasons, each flower season brings me a lot of inspiration in life and painting. I often paint what is close and familiar, which are trees, flowers and leaves... around me so that from that beauty I feel like I am filled with love and faith in life. - artist Vu Thuy Mai.

Spring - the season of bustling flowers and leaves, the season of transformation and intense life. In March, when the air gradually warms up, the first spring flowers bloom, full of vitality in the sun, in the mist, in every drizzle... is also the time when Vu Thuy Mai finds a special source of inspiration.

She painted flowers from her living space to flowers familiar to the Vietnamese spring that she observed, such as: narcissus, pear blossoms, grapefruit blossoms, dahlias, bauhinia flowers, kapok flowers...

Each flower has its own color, scent and meaning, expressing both the beauty of nature and the artist's stories, emotions and thoughts. The inspiration from flowers in Vu Thuy Mai's paintings is sometimes expressed through the overlapping petal structure, sometimes through the delicate, slender lines... all are painted with meticulousness, detail and effort to create a graceful yet profound beauty. Thanks to that, the flowers of March in particular and in the artist's paintings in general bring the symbol of life, hope and freshness.
