A cute security guard, every morning standing at the school gate wishes students good morning.
Educators do not stand on the podium but have sown many seeds of virtue and valuable life lessons into the minds of many generations of students.
It is the security guard who always greets with a smile every morning, creating a friendly atmosphere where students feel cared for and appreciated. It is the technician who patiently and carefully fixes any problem, big or small, not only ensuring everything runs smoothly but also setting an example of hard work and responsibility. Or it is the janitor who quietly sweeps the schoolyard before the students arrive, demonstrating self-respect and self-discipline in her work.
Jobs such as school security, technical work or cleaning are sometimes overlooked in terms of student education. But through their daily actions and gestures, many people have become examples of diligence, responsibility and patience.
The security guard at the school not only maintains security, but also teaches children how to greet and behave politely. The technician not only repairs equipment but is also someone from whom students can learn about diligence and meticulousness. The janitor teaches students a lesson about cleanliness and self-discipline in keeping the school tidy.
'Off-the-Level Educators' Contribute to Happy Schools
Lessons about discipline and self-awareness are not always taught through words. The images of the security guard persistently opening the door in the cold rain, the janitor still diligently cleaning even though it is late at night, or the technician always dedicated to his work, contribute greatly to forming good habits for students.
The daily interactions between them and their students, no matter how small, are opportunities to impart essential values and life skills. Moreover, the love and care they show for their students through small gestures such as reminding them to wear warm clothes, advising them about safety when leaving, or simply listening to their confidences, have created a warm and friendly educational environment, a truly happy school.
While their role in education is undeniable, unfortunately, these silent contributions are not always fully recognized and acknowledged. This is also a big challenge for modern society to properly recognize and appreciate these "off-the-lecture educators".
The janitors clean every corner of the school.
We need a full view of the educational role of these individuals. To do that, there needs to be a change in each person's perception, from respecting the genuine profession of everyone, from all positions to recognizing that anyone can become an inspiration for a positive lifestyle for others.
Unforgettable lessons
Students shared valuable memories and lessons from "teachers who did not stand on the podium".
"I happened to meet the cleaning lady one sunny afternoon 15 minutes before class started. She accidentally spilled a bottle of mineral water while sweeping the yard. Seeing that, I gave her a small bottle of water I had just bought because I thought she couldn't stop in the middle of her shift. She thanked me sincerely and gave me a candy. It was a memorable memory," shared Vo Chau Minh Thu, class 11A12, Mac Dinh Chi High School, District 6.
"Being chosen to represent the school in the national startup competition is a great honor, but also a heavy responsibility, so my friends and I, with the guidance of the teacher, were determined to stay at school after school to focus all our efforts on completing the project. When the last lights in the school began to dim, everyone looked at each other in surprise. The group quickly cleaned up to go home. When we left the research room, we saw the security guard patiently waiting with a flashlight in his hand. He did not show any sign of annoyance or discomfort even though it was the end of his working hours. He still happily asked and encouraged the group," said Nguyen Thi Hoai Ni, class 12A8, Tran Van Giau High School, Binh Thanh District.
"On the occasion of November 20th last year, like other classes, we practiced dancing to prepare for the ceremony. During the practice, we had snacks and drinks, and when we were done, we just cleaned up roughly. The janitor found out and was a bit annoyed and frustrated. Thanks to that, our awareness has increased significantly, we know how to keep ourselves cleaner, tidier, and more responsible for what we have done. Looking back at the journey we have gone through, her presence and the reminders or frowns of the teachers have helped us grow up every day, develop good qualities, and get rid of our inherent bad habits...", Tong Nguyen Thanh Van, class 8A1, An Phu Dong Secondary School, District 12, said.
