Working at the Drug and Crime Prevention Team, Tan Xuan Border Guard Station (now Chieng Son Border Guard Station, Moc Chau town) from 2012 to 2018, Major Vi Van Hien was assigned by his superiors to work at the Propaganda Department, Political Department, Provincial Border Guard Command (now Border Guard Command). In the early days of entering the profession, starting from a blank page, he read newspapers and watched TV every day to figure out how to write news and articles.
Major Vi Van Hien shared: I still remember the first conference news that was published. I had to carefully write every word and every frame, but still had to make quite a few edits. Learning from each news and article, from the actual working environment, and at the same time, with the unit creating conditions to participate in short-term journalism training courses, gaining more knowledge, I became more confident in myself and began to have journalistic works that bore my own mark.
As for Major Quang Manh Hung, after nearly 10 years of working in propaganda about the Son La border guards, he has set foot in the border posts and the most remote and difficult communes in the province to work. Major Quang Manh Hung said: The work "Son La Border Guard with the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and the bright belief in the people's hearts" is about the skillful mass mobilization work of the Border Guard with the people on the border line, a work that my colleagues and I have invested a lot of effort in going to many places on the border lines, with many profound memories. The work won the A prize for composing and promoting literary, artistic and journalistic works on the theme "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" for the period 2021-2025 and the B prize in the Political Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation of Son La province for the second time, in 2024.
Lieutenant Colonel Vi Van Chuong, Deputy Head of the Political Department, Border Guard Command, Provincial Military Command, said: The column team "For border security and sovereignty" has only 2 people, but the quantity and quality of news, articles, and reports published and broadcast on central and local news agencies are very rich, contributing to the excellent completion of the tasks of Son La Border Guard each year.
From 2024 to present, the "For border security sovereignty" column team has produced 20 reports, 258 news articles, published on central and local newspapers and radio stations, focusing on reflecting the work of protecting territorial sovereignty, being ready to fight against crimes that violate national security and other crimes; inspecting, controlling, border diplomacy and training, building units associated with cultural and artistic activities, sports, building green, clean and beautiful unit environments.
Propagating the results of implementing campaigns and emulation movements of units and localities such as: "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh and Uncle Ho's teachings for the Border Guard"; Campaign "Promoting tradition, maintaining discipline, living with love, promoting responsibility" and movement "Border Guard joins hands to build new countryside"...
The works of the column group "For border security and sovereignty" won many high awards, such as: A prize in the political essay contest to protect the Party's ideological foundation, organized by the Vietnam Border Guard Command in 2025; B and C prizes in the second political essay contest to protect the Party's ideological foundation in Son La province, 2024; B and encouragement prizes in the Press contest to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Border Guard Day, organized by the Provincial Military Command and the Son La Provincial Journalists Association.
Although they are not professional journalists, with enthusiasm, the staff and soldiers of the "For Border Security and Sovereignty" column team have created quality journalistic works, promptly reflecting and vividly expressing all aspects of the work of the Border Guard force, spreading the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" in the new situation.
