At 11 Sinh Trung Street, Nha Trang Ward, the clinic opens its doors every Monday and Friday afternoon to welcome many people seeking free consultations and medication. Those who come might be an elderly person over 70 years old having their blood pressure measured, or lottery ticket vendors asking for a few vitamin pills. At the clinic, there is no discrimination; everyone who comes is welcomed with care and given thorough advice.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, from Nha Trang ward, sells eggs at the market from 6 a.m. until the end of the day. When she feels tired or has back pain, she ignores it because she doesn't have time to go to a medical facility. On Friday afternoon, a week before the Lunar New Year, after the market closed, she went to receive her medication. At the clinic, Ms. Lien was very happy to receive thorough advice and many valuable nutritional supplements. “Because I'm busy making a living, I rarely have the opportunity to go to large hospitals. At this clinic, I received very thorough advice from the doctors and was given free nutritional supplements. Thanks to taking the medicine as directed, my health has improved significantly, and I can work with peace of mind,” Ms. Lien said.

Recounting the history of the clinic, Mr. Dong Luong Son, Chairman of the Association of Admirers of A. Yersin, slowly explained: Dr. A. Yersin was a world-renowned French scientist of Swiss origin. During his lifetime, he lived harmoniously with the people, possessing a deep love for humanity, especially children and the poor. Dr. A. Yersin provided free medical examinations and medicine to the poor and sought ways to help them in times of difficulty. Inheriting the aspirations of this compassionate doctor, the Association established the clinic to continue these efforts.

The clinic was authorized by the Khanh Hoa Department of Health on March 15, 1993, and officially began operations in May 1993. Here, doctors only provide first aid, examination, and treatment for common internal medicine illnesses; they do not perform specialized procedures.

Over the years, the clinic has regularly operated on Monday and Friday mornings; currently, it has shifted to afternoons to better suit current conditions. During holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), the clinic organizes expanded examination sessions to serve more patients. In addition, the clinic's doctors and pharmacists also coordinate medical examination and treatment sessions in several localities within the province for war invalids, disadvantaged families of martyrs, disabled children, children affected by Agent Orange, free eye surgery for the poor, and mobile medical examinations in ethnic minority areas and areas affected by natural disasters and floods. On average, the clinic receives 900-1,000 patients annually, with an operating budget of approximately 250-300 million VND.

Mr. Dong Luong Son emphasized: In order for the clinic to maintain its free operation for the community, in addition to the contributions of philanthropists, there is also the willingness of volunteers, including reputable retired doctors and medical professionals from the province, to provide medical examinations and work together to help disadvantaged people and poor patients in remote and isolated rural areas.

Following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, "A good doctor must be like a loving mother" and "A doctor not only has the duty to cure diseases but also to uplift the spirits of the sick," the doctors, pharmacists, and nurses at the clinic always work with a sense of responsibility, strictly adhering to the regulations for examination and treatment. Despite being a charitable organization, the clinic prioritizes the modernization of its expertise by equipping itself with medical record management software as required by the Ministry of Health. For patients with particularly difficult circumstances or disabilities, the doctors also provide additional financial assistance for transportation or connect them with and advise them on accessing more specialized medical services.

People's Physician, Dr. Nguyen Van Xang, former Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital and Vice President of the Association of Admirers of A. Yersin, is a doctor who directly participates in examining patients at the clinic. He shared that for nearly 33 years, despite many difficulties, with the determination of the Association and the doctors and medical staff to maintain its activities, the clinic has always been a reliable address, not only for examining patients from the poor and those in difficult circumstances, but also for providing spiritual support to the vulnerable in society.
