According to VietNamNet reporters, despite the rain this morning, the candidates were present at the exam venue very early. These are the first candidates to experience the atmosphere of the 10th grade exam in Hanoi in 2025.
According to plan, the school will organize the entrance exam on May 24 and 25.
Candidates will take general exams including Literature (essay, 120 minutes), Math (multiple choice, 90 minutes), English (multiple choice, 60 minutes); before taking exams in specialized subjects: Literature, History, Geography (essay).
This morning, May 24, candidates began the exam with the general Literature exam at 8:00 a.m. with a 120-minute test duration.
The general Literature subject consists of two parts: Reading and Writing. Candidates must write an essay on paper.
Part 1 - Reading comprehension (4 points) includes 3 to 5 questions, testing reading comprehension skills, organized from easy to difficult, from recognition, understanding to application.
Part 2 - Writing (6 points) includes 1 to 2 questions, requiring candidates to demonstrate their ability to write paragraphs and essays to discuss literary and social issues and phenomena.
The knowledge content in the exam is from the generaleducation program from grade 6 to grade 9 of the Ministry of Education and Training, mainly grade 9.
The school said that the materials used in the exam are outside the current secondary school Literature textbooks.
The school reminds candidates not to bring correction pens (because correction pens are not allowed in the exam). Also, do not bring phones, expensive personal belongings, school bags and should leave them with parents or relatives before entering the exam site.
Candidates can wear regular wristwatches (not smartwatches) to time the test, but most exam rooms and schools have wall clocks.
Ms. Minh Hoa (Cau Giay District) said that this morning, both mother and daughter woke up very early to prepare everything for the exam. Although it was not the city-wide 10th grade exam, Ms. Hoa was still very nervous and worried, no less than her daughter, because this was her first 10th grade exam.
“If my child does well in this exam, he will feel less pressured than in the city-wide non-specialized public high school entrance exam for grade 10. On the way to the exam site, I kept reminding him to stay calm, try his best and not give up. I hope he will do well in the first exam,” Ms. Hoa shared.
In 2025, the school will recruit 70 students majoring in Literature; 35 students majoring in History and 35 students majoring in Geography.
Candidates who are eligible for admission must be candidates who have taken all 3 general exams (Literature, Mathematics, English) and the specialized exam (Literature, History, Geography), and have not been suspended from taking the exam. In which, the score of each general exam (Literature, Mathematics, English) must be 4 or higher, the score of the specialized exam (Literature, History, Geography) must be 6 or higher.
Entrance exam schedule for grade 10 of Social Sciences and Humanities High School in 2025:
The admission score is the sum of the general Literature exam score multiplied by coefficient 1 and the specialized subject score (Literature, History, Geography) multiplied by coefficient 2.
The school considers admission scores from high to low until the quota is filled for each specialized class; priority points and incentive points are not added in admission.
Exam results will be announced before June 20 on the website of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
