On the afternoon of October 12, Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center said that Mr. Tran Van S. (in Duong Dong) was admitted to the hospital with a deep, 6cm long wound on his right arm and many muscle bundles on his arm were severed, blood was splattered.
The doctors quickly bandaged the wound to stop the bleeding. During the emergency surgery, the doctor determined that Mr. S.'s hand had a severed artery, which was also the main blood vessel supplying blood to the forearm. If surgery was not performed soon, the patient's hand could become gangrenous and could not be saved.
To save Mr. S's arm, the doctor connected the severed artery, vein and tendons.
After more than 2 hours of surgery, Mr. S's hand was rosy again, and his pulse was steady. Mr. S's health is now stable, the surgical wound is dry, and his hand is warm and pink.
Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center added that this was a difficult vascular surgery for doctors in Phu Quoc.
Thanks to the equipment of microsurgical instruments, full medical supplies and highly specialized doctors, Mr. S's arm was saved in time.
Mr. S. informed that while being careless, a piece of broken glass cut his right hand, causing a lot of bleeding.
Previously, doctors from Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City provided professional support to doctors from Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center to perform timely thrombolytic injections to save the lives of two patients with stroke and acute cerebral infarction.
