Overcoming "inertia", promoting exemplary behavior

It was late afternoon, but at the Auto Repair Workshop (Auto Repair Workshop 387), the sound of hammers was still sharp, the sound of wrenches was still clanging, the sound of engines was still rumbling. Expressing his satisfaction when Major Khuong Linh Huong, Workshop Manager, introduced the main features of the mission, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Phuong, Political Commissar of Auto Repair Workshop 387 shared: “The workshop attaches importance to creating local human resources; selecting young, capable cadres, engineers, and technicians, assigning experienced, highly skilled people to mentor new and weak people, ensuring that the next generation has enough capacity to replace them. Experience has helped the unit successfully complete its tasks for many years by proactively overcoming “inertia” and promoting the exemplary role of cadres and party members.”

In fact, we found that the training and development of technical staff is carried out synchronously by the unit, especially training to improve the level of using new equipment; training on new technology content. To improve the quality of training, the Workshop prioritizes practice time through actual maintenance and repair at workshops; organizes in-depth training and development. Not only locating the damage, the staff go deep to detect, maintain and repair each part of the vehicle.

Most young engineers, workers, and technicians do not have access to new generation motorbikes, so the unit proactively contacted and coordinated with the Department of Motorbikes, the General Department of Engineering, and vocational training schools to send officers and employees for training and development. From these core members, the Workshop established groups of teachers, compiled documents, and organized training and development for the entire unit.

After many years of investment in upgrading and modernizing the maintenance, repair and inspection lines for motorbikes, the workshop's equipment has now been modernized, such as: CNC milling and lathe machines... to meet the needs of new generation motorbike maintenance and repair and ensure the production of materials and spare parts with high precision and aesthetics. Previously, the details cut by old machines often depended heavily on the skills and experience of the workers, but now they are mass-processed, with consistent quality, saving labor, and significantly reducing costs.

Promote innovation and technical improvement

Previously, 387 Auto Repair Workshop often encountered difficulties when cars came to the Workshop to repair the transmission assembly, the reason being that there was no equipment to test the transmission system. Repairmen had to do it manually. Many cars after being repaired, internal testing and static testing did not detect any damage or abnormal problems, but when driving long distances, the transmission vibrated and had difficulty shifting gears...

Since July 2021, the scientific topic "Powertrain testing equipment on Uaz military vehicles" by Captain Ngo Dinh Viet, Head of the Technical Technology Department, has been put into use to overcome this situation. In particular, technical staff using this equipment can easily detect errors arising after maintenance to have a solution to fix them, reduce fuel consumption after each long-distance test run, improve labor productivity and is not toxic to the environment.

After many times of research and testing, Major Vo Kim Hoa, Deputy Director of the Automobile Repair Workshop and Major Nguyen Thi Kim Phuong have worked hard to research and create a device to cut car seat foam with a circular saw blade. The device is widely used, brings high efficiency, shortens the time and effort of soldiers and has high aesthetics. Similarly, Captain Mai Van Sy, an employee of the Automobile Repair Workshop, has researched and manufactured a device to test generators on cars. The initiative contributes significantly to the maintenance and repair of generators of military vehicles.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Tien, Director of the 387 Auto Repair Workshop, every year, the number of motorbikes brought to the Workshop for maintenance and repair increases, while materials and spare parts are scarce... This reality requires the unit's technical staff to proactively research, propose ideas, promote initiatives, and improve techniques for practical application. In order for the movement to go into depth, from the beginning of the year, groups and individuals register topics and initiatives, and have them approved by the Workshop's Science, Technology and Engineering Council before implementation. On the other hand, the unit creates conditions for officers, staff, and repairmen to increase practice to improve their professional qualifications. Topics and initiatives with high feasibility and effective application to practical tasks of motorbike maintenance and repair are rewarded by the unit's commander. Thanks to that, every year, the Workshop has 3-5 feasible topics and initiatives that win high-level awards at the Military Region and the whole army, are effectively applied in agencies and units, saving tens of billions of VND.

With the spirit of overcoming difficulties, proactively taking the lead, along with practical and effective solutions, Auto Repair Workshop 387 is always the leading unit in the Emulation Movement to Win of the Technical Department of Military Region 5; a trusted address to "treat" military vehicles and motorcycles in the Central Highlands region.
