To date, 1,200 hectares of spring rice in Duc Quang commune have been planted, reaching 100% of the plan. According to observations, most of the spring rice crop in Duc Quang commune is currently in the rooting and greening stage. Agricultural cooperatives are increasing water supply and regulating water resources appropriately in the fields, creating favorable conditions for farmers to care for their rice crops effectively.
As a predominantly agricultural commune, the spring crop is the main production season in Duc Quang commune. Therefore, most farmers have experience and a firm grasp of technical procedures. This year, in particular, the model of organic rice production on mud-filled fields continues to expand, covering a total area of nearly 100 hectares. To turn rice production into a marketable commodity, the locality has implemented a 10-hectare demonstration model using tray seedlings and transplanting machines.

However, due to the erratic weather in recent days, dense fog in the early morning and late evening has resulted in high humidity, creating favorable conditions for the emergence and spread of pests and diseases, especially thrips and rice blast, which are scattered across the fields. Pests and diseases are mainly concentrated in early spring rice crops and susceptible varieties such as P6 and Thai Xuyen.
In response to this situation, farmers have proactively gone to the fields regularly to monitor and assess the situation in order to take timely preventive measures.

Mr. Phan Van Bang from Dong Doai village said: “ The spring crop is the most important crop of the year, so my family pays close attention to the care. After planting, we immediately go to the field to thin out seedlings, fertilize at the right time, and regularly check for pests and diseases.”
While tending to her family's three plots of rice fields, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (Ha Tu village) said: "This year, the cold weather and heavy rain have slowed down the rice's recovery. My family has received guidance from the commune's agricultural extension officers on how to care for the plants and control pests and diseases, so we feel more at ease. Everyone in the village is encouraging each other to take advantage of the time to go to the fields and take good care of the crops from the beginning so that we can have a good harvest at the end of the season."

Mr. Nguyen Tien Tuan, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Duc Quang Commune People's Committee, said: "With the weather conditions like these past few days, sunny and warm days, and thick fog at night and early morning, it's ideal for pests and diseases to develop, especially thrips and rice blast. If not detected and controlled early, these two pests and diseases will develop and spread very quickly. Given this situation, the Economic Department has sent agricultural extension officers to coordinate with the villages to focus on disseminating information and advising farmers to regularly inspect their fields and control pests and diseases as soon as they appear to harm the rice crop."
To support farmers in efficient production, the Duc Quang commune government has strengthened its guidance, assigning specialized staff to regularly monitor the fields, guiding farmers on technical measures for care and pest control according to the "4 correct" principles (correct pesticide, correct dosage, correct time, and correct method), minimizing damage to rice crops.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Quang commune, said: “Immediately after planting, the People's Committee of the commune directed the specialized department to send agricultural officials to coordinate with the villages to inspect the fields, promptly detect pests and diseases, and guide farmers on how to handle them. We are strengthening propaganda through the public address system, doing a good job of forecasting, advising, and guiding farmers to care for rice according to proper technical procedures, and not being complacent in the face of weather changes. The local goal is to protect the spring rice crop area well, strive for high yields, and contribute to stabilizing people's income.”
With the proactive efforts of the people and the decisive involvement of the local government, it is believed that spring rice production in Duc Quang commune will continue to be protected safely, creating a foundation for a successful harvest.
