Hai Xuan farmers follow Uncle Ho

Implementing the emulation movement to follow Uncle Ho's teachings, over the past 5 years, cadres and members of the Farmers' Association of Hai Xuan commune (Hai Hau) have always promoted the tradition of hard work and creativity, upheld the spirit of solidarity, overcome all difficulties, competed in socio -economic development, actively built advanced and exemplary new rural areas, constantly built and consolidated the Association organization and the farmers' movement to become increasingly strong and developed.

Mr. Vu Van Nghi, Chairman of the Commune Farmers' Association (HND), said: To encourage farmer members to compete in labor production, the Commune Farmers' Association has mobilized and guided farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms in agriculture ; paid attention to supporting members and farmers in terms of loans, vocational training to create jobs; accessed to scientific and technological advances, new technologies; promoted product consumption. Since then, members and farmers have boldly shifted the structure of crops and livestock, rotated crops, renovated mixed gardens, converted ineffective rice-growing areas to aquaculture, and planted high-value crops according to the plan. The total rice-growing area of the commune is 225.2 hectares; the average yield is 128.7 quintals/ha, the average output is 3,246 tons/year. The production value per hectare of cultivated land is estimated at 150 million VND/ha. Production, cultivation of concentrated crops, breeds and flowers, and growing of vegetables on 148 hectares. Livestock development is in the direction of small and medium-sized farms, gradually reducing small-scale farming. Up to now, the whole commune has 199 households raising livestock, poultry and aquaculture; the average pig herd is regularly maintained from 1,500-2,500 heads, the poultry herd is 350-370 thousand heads. Aquaculture exploitation and cultivation have developed strongly over the years, the total value of exploitation and cultivation of aquaculture in 2022 is expected to reach 1,500 tons. The commune has 4 OCOP products: country chicken eggs, country duck eggs, high-class chicken eggs, and black garlic recognized as meeting 3-star standards. The movement of good production and business continues to receive attention and innovation. The Commune Farmers' Association focuses on mobilizing farmers to participate in the project of restructuring the agricultural sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development, promoting economic structure, capital and human resources; encouraging the development of family farms and ranches combined with the accumulation of production materials, mixed gardens and intercropping to serve the local feed source; at the same time, accelerating technology and machinery in production. Many VAC models have been replicated, many households have invested capital to renovate mixed gardens, grow flowers, ornamental plants, bonsai, build barns, ponds on an industrial and semi-industrial scale, always bringing in an income of billions of VND/year or more, such as the households of Mr. Nguyen Van Cong, Hoang Van Chuyen, Nguyen Van Dung. Typical households doing business and consuming agricultural products such as Mr. Pham Van Huy, Dinh Van Thuc, Nguyen Van Tru, Bui Van Thin... have contributed to accessing the market and consuming farmers' products faster. Every year, through the emulation campaign, over 1,126 households have registered and 400 households have achieved the title of good production and business households at 4 levels (equal to 35.5% compared to farmer households).

Along with promoting the movement of good production and business, the mutual assistance activities to help each other sustainably reduce poverty in recent years have always been actively responded to by cadres and members of the Commune Farmers' Association. Every year, the branches participate in surveying, classifying, and making a list of poor households, proposing and advising the Party Committee and the government to take measures to help. The Commune Farmers' Association directs each branch to help 1-2 households escape poverty every year; in the past 5 years, the associations at all levels have helped 35 households escape poverty through practical activities such as: supporting loans from banks, techniques for raising white-leg shrimp and raising mullet, etc. Every year, the Commune Farmers' Association also organizes and participates in social security activities such as supporting various charity funds; contributing to the "Farmers' Shelter" Fund to build houses for poor members; coordinating well the activities of "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source", helping families of war invalids and martyrs; Visit and give gifts to policy beneficiaries and poor farmers on holidays and Tet; visit and give gifts to young people leaving for military service...

Implementing the movement to build advanced and exemplary new rural areas in the period of 2016-2021, 2021-2026, the Standing Committee of the Commune Farmers' Association has proactively developed plans and provided implementation instructions to the branches and farmer members, selecting key contents that are suitable to the characteristics of the Association to focus on directing implementation. Together with the people, cadres and farmer members have actively responded to the implementation, promoting their role and responsibility for the common tasks of the community; contributing efforts and money to upgrade the traffic system, village cultural houses, and lighting systems; participating in cleaning the environment, village roads, and alleys, and beautifying family grounds to be bright - green - clean - beautiful; contributing over 1,000 working days in building new rural areas. Models undertaken by the Association include: making tanks to store packaging and pesticide containers in the fields; Model gardening and pond building, developing farm economy associated with environmental sanitation in livestock farming, classifying and treating organic waste at source have been effective. Currently, the whole commune has 7/7 hamlets with 2,412 households classifying and treating waste at source, reaching over 90% of the households present in the locality; mobilizing members to build 180 model garden and pond models. Over the past 5 years, the whole commune has upgraded 2.6km of commune roads, 7.6km of hamlet roads, 33.4km of inter-hamlet roads, 8.8km of hamlet roads with a total cost of 26 billion 330 million VND. People also voluntarily donated nearly 6,000m2 of land to serve the construction of the project to upgrade and renovate Tay Song Muc road; renovated and upgraded 8.4km of level 1, level 2, level 3 canal banks with a total cost of 1 billion 638 million VND; 811 new LED lighting poles were installed; sports equipment was purchased and the auxiliary works of the cultural houses of the hamlets were upgraded to meet the model NTM standards. The commune achieved the advanced NTM standards in 2020, with 7/7 hamlets meeting and basically meeting the model NTM standards.

From the emulation movement to follow Uncle Ho's teachings, cadres and farmers' union members of Hai Xuan commune continue to develop the commune's agricultural production in a stable and sustainable direction. The material and spiritual life of farmers in the commune is constantly improving. The number of well-off and rich households is increasing, the number of poor households is decreasing, social security policies are guaranteed; the work of caring for the poor and people in difficult circumstances is getting better and better. Farmers are excited and believe in the leadership of the Party and the administration of the government, actively participating in contributing to building the Party and building a strong government./.
