According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, to date, farmers in the province have planted nearly 82,000 out of 268,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice for 2026, reaching 30.5% of the plan and exceeding 100% compared to the same period in 2025.
According to the provincial Department of Agriculture, early-season pest and disease outbreaks included golden apple snails, brown planthoppers, leaf blight, leaf rollers, and rice blast, affecting approximately 1,500 hectares, but at a mild level and not significantly impacting rice growth.
Forecasts indicate that brown planthoppers in stages 3 and 4 will appear sporadically, along with thrips, leaf-rolling caterpillars, rice blast disease, stem borers, whiteflies, golden apple snails, and rats, affecting rice crops during the seedling and heading stages.
Agricultural experts advise farmers to regularly inspect their fields to promptly detect pests and diseases and implement effective control measures. For areas that have not yet been planted, farmers should proactively clean their fields and adhere to the recommended planting schedule to minimize pest and disease outbreaks.
