Meritorious Artist Linh Hue: Spoiled by her husband, doesn't know how to use luxury goods

Meritorious Artist Linh Hue was born in 1973, from Hoa Binh. In 1989, Linh Hue took the exam and was accepted into the Ha Tay Drama Group. Currently, she is working at the Hanoi Drama Theater and has made her mark with many plays such as: Quynh in Those Black Shadows Still There , Phuong in Twenty Days of Wrongful Contribution, Teacher Que in Virus Chorus , Sister Hau in Hanoi Children , Son in Land of Many People and Many Ghosts , Madam Tu in Thuy Kieu ...

In television, Linh Hue became famous from her first role as Hau "Sida" in the long-running series Gio qua mien toi sang in 1998. For this role, she won the Best Young Actress award in 1999.

After that, she also participated in many other films such as: Hong in Provincial President , Thuy in Motherhood , Thao in Khoan noi loi yeu thuong , Ha in Banh duc co xuong , Mrs. Tam in Huong vi tinh than, Mrs. Minh Nhat in Thong gia ngo narrow ... Recently, she played the role of Mai Anh's formidable mother in the film Where dreams come back .

Wearing flip-flops to audition for the role of Hau "AIDS"

When mentioning Linh Hue, people still remember the role of Hau "Sida" in the movie "Wind through the dark and bright region". How did you get to play this role?

- This film was filmed around 1995-1996, when I was 23 years old. This is the first Vietnamese TV series to be recorded live. The 30-episode film explores the topic of HIV/AIDS prevention, thereby promoting marital fidelity, and brings together a great cast.

Before this film, I had played small roles in some TV series and knew two women: Lan Huong and Bich Ngoc from the film production organization. One day, they told me "are you free? Come here and play", without mentioning any casting (audition - PV) so I was very carefree, wearing white flip-flops, no makeup.

That day, there were some hot actors at that time who came to audition, but when they saw me, probably because I was suitable for the role, the film crew decided to choose me for the movie.

At the time the movie "Wind through the dark and bright region" was broadcast, many people still discriminated and had prejudices about HIV/AIDS. Were you hesitant when accepting to act in the movie?

- To be honest, yes. At that time, we had to do field trips to some hospitals, I was quite worried and scared. When I went to the medical rooms, seeing the doctors keeping the patients' blood for HIV/AIDS testing, I really got chills. But at that time, I acted naturally, just like that without much preparation.

When the film was broadcast, I was surprised by the love of the audience. It was a gift, but also a challenge for me. Because the "shadow" of Hau "AIDS" was so big that I had to assert myself and renew my image with the roles that followed.

What did your family and friends say when you played the role of Hau "AIDS"?

- Back then, media and social networks were not as good as they are now, so discrimination was very big. Back then, the whole neighborhood had a TV, and when people came to watch, they talked a lot about me, making my grandmother cry and worry about me. But that passed very quickly, and I didn't have to feel awkward anymore.

Were you married at that time? When you were in love, did your husband's family talk about your role of a lifetime?

- When I was in love, I was lucky to meet a husband who understood me. His parents-in-law were civilized and sympathetic to my work. I did not encounter any problems or difficulties.

But when I had a child and my child went to school, I encountered trouble. Someone pointed at my child and said: "This is the child of Hau "AIDS", sometimes my child was isolated. At that time, I was famous, so my child was compared as not as pretty as me, I was very sad.

There was a long time when I stopped acting to take care of my two grown children. If you stop acting in a TV series for such a long time, you will be forgotten and your return will not be noticed anymore, but I accept the sacrifice for my children.

Audiences are always impressed with you in gentle, resigned roles. In the recent movie "Where Dreams Return", audiences were surprised when Linh Hue played a formidable role for the first time. Was this role difficult for you?

- On stage, I have played some terrible roles. Recently, I played the role of Madam Tu in the play Thuy Kieu . Many viewers said: "I didn't expect you to play a shrewish role."

On television, my face makes it difficult to play a character with personality. Some people can only act 7 parts but because of their face, they can get a 9. As for me, I can act 9 points but my face doesn't support me much.

In the movie Where Dreams Come Back , everyone was quite surprised about me, it's true that I changed 180 degrees with this role. Someone said: "You've changed your color now?". As a professional actor, I don't refuse any type of role...

"I often act spoiled with my husband"

Linh Hue is a quiet artist but always maintains perseverance with her career. Why do you always love your career so much?

- I think fate and passion have helped me always love the profession. I have loved acting since I was a child, now I have achieved some small successes in the theater industry, probably because of my passion for the profession.

I am "passionate" about my job. I once told People's Artist Trung Hieu - Director of Hanoi Drama Theater, "I don't like being a leader or this or that, I just like being an artist. When I am assigned a big or small job, I will do my best."

So even if it's just a small role, I still accept it and ask the producers to read the script first, see the costumes and appearance to prepare for filming. I proactively prepare everything for myself.

Is Linh Hue picky about roles?

- There are times when I can't arrange family matters so I don't participate, but if it's suitable and I can arrange the time, I still make films, whether the role is big or small.

Not for income, no one gets rich from acting. My two children are grown up, I'm bored at home so I want to be busier, I want to meet people to talk.

People say Linh Hue has a rich husband so she works for fun?

- My husband is a businessman so he supports me a lot. Since we got married, he has let me work and act freely with my passion. Before we got married, I told him: "If I had to choose between acting and you, I would choose acting". Luckily, I didn't have to choose between either.

He stood behind me to support me and never said: "You should quit your job". He respected me. I also know how to balance family and career, and can still take care of him, so he was happy.

What do your husband and children think of the movies you act in?

- My husband doesn't watch movies, but sometimes he watches short clips on Facebook or YouTube, then he smiles and says nothing. The children tease him: "In real life, you're even better than that."

I am lucky to have a husband who loves and respects me. I often share with him: "I am not as good at business as you, but I know how to pamper my husband." He does not let me work hard. Since the children were born, there has always been a maid at home, even when the two children went to study abroad, so I have time to perform.

Are you someone who likes expensive, branded items?

I am a very simple person, I don’t know how to beautify myself, I don’t dress up or use branded goods. Although my husband doesn’t let me lack anything, that’s my personality and I don’t want to change.
