On February 2nd, PEOPLE reported that singer Ifunanya Nwangene passed away following a tragic accident involving a venomous snake. The information was confirmed by the choir where she performed, stating that the singer breathed her last on January 31st at a hospital in Nigeria.

According to BBC Africa , Ifunanya was bitten by a snake while sleeping at her home. She woke up in the middle of the night because of the bite and later discovered two snakes in the house. Initially, the singer was taken to a nearby clinic, but they did not have antivenom, forcing her to be transferred to another hospital. Despite emergency treatment, Ifunanya did not survive.

The choir expressed their deep sorrow, calling her "a rising star" whose voice and spirit will always be remembered. On social media, many colleagues and fans also sent condolences under the singer's old posts.

Ifunanya Nwangene first gained attention when she participated in The Voice Nigeria season 3. In the Blind Auditions, she impressed both coaches with her performance of Rihanna's " Take a Bow ." Her audition video garnered over 80,000 views on YouTube, helping her gain widespread recognition.

According to family and friends, the singer has many plans for her music career, including the intention to hold her first solo concert in 2026.
