'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll' Tina Turner passes away

Tina Turner is famous for her powerful voice and passionate stage performances. Throughout her 60-year career, she was known as the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll.

After a long illness, the legendary singer breathed his last at his home in Switzerland on May 24 at the age of 84.

Since 1994, the American singer and her husband moved to Switzerland and became a citizen of this country in 2013. In the last years of her life, the music legend suffered from serious health problems such as stroke, intestinal cancer and complete kidney failure requiring an organ transplant.

Her passing is a great loss to the world of music. In a career spanning more than half a century, Tina Turner has consistently appeared on the Billboard Top 40 for four decades, won numerous Grammy Awards, entered the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and become one of the best-selling female artists on the planet.

In 2008, Tina Turner announced that her Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour would be her last on stage. After this tour, Tina Turner officially retired from music to focus on her personal life. In 2013, Tina Turner married her second husband, German actor and music producer Erwin Bach.

In 2018, one of her last public appearances was when Tina Turner attended the London premiere of the musical Tina, based on her 50-year singing career. HBO most recently premiered a documentary about her in March 2021.
