The desire to study abroad in the US was planned for a long time, so the female student had a clear plan. In class, she focused on listening to lectures, and regularly reviewed at home. When she had time, she went online to learn and study to consolidate her knowledge. When determining the criteria, American universities not only considered scholarships based on achievements and certificates such as IELTS, SAT (standardized tests used for admission to American universities), but also extracurricular activities and essays. My carefully planned to implement them. According to My, in 9th grade, she achieved IELTS 8.0. The SAT is a challenge for female students when there is no local review center and she cannot find someone to guide and exchange experiences. These things made My extremely confused and encountered many difficulties. However, determined to pursue her dream, My went online to learn. After registering for an online SAT course and practicing solving questions, My achieved a score of 1,530/1,600. It also took My nearly half a year to complete the 650-word essay. “The most practical thing is to talk about yourself and what you have done, so I put it in the essay,” My said. In response to her efforts, My received a scholarship worth nearly 11 billion VND from two American universities. Tra My also shared that she tried to achieve good results in the graduation exam, before going to the US, she chose Rochester University because the Finance major she wanted to pursue at this school was ranked higher.Tra My (fourth from left) received the award from the Department of Education and Training of Phu Yen province.
