Nguyen Bao Chau, a female student, is the recipient of a 2.7 billion VND scholarship from the Institute of Business Administration (VinUni University).

Talented, pretty, and dynamic are the words many people use to describe Nguyen Bao Chau. This 12th-grade student from Math Class 1 at Ha Tinh Specialized High School not only boasts impressive academic achievements but also excels in extracurricular activities, being the founder of many meaningful and practical community projects.

Bao Chau is the founder of The STEAM Project – a project that applies and spreads STEAM education (a learning method primarily based on hands-on practice with many creative activities) to young people. Chau is also the co-head of the organizing committee for the STEAM summer camp program for teenagers in Ha Tinh.

In addition, the female student is also the founder and former president of Colympus - Olympia Club at Ha Tinh Specialized High School; and a founding member and former deputy head of human resources at The PEA Organization - an educational organization supporting middle school students.

Despite winning numerous valuable scholarships, surprisingly, Bao Chau never intended to pursue them from the start. The student stated that her efforts in studying and participating in activities were entirely driven by passion and a desire to develop and improve her skills.

By the time she was in 11th grade, after researching and being attracted by the international learning environment, Bao Chau began preparing her scholarship application. In the first semester of 12th grade, Bao Chau submitted her applications during the early admissions period of various universities.

As a result, the female student from Ha Tinh continuously received good news: an 80% talent scholarship (worth 2.7 billion VND) from the Institute of Business Administration at VinUni University - a private, non-profit university established by Vingroup in Hanoi; a President Scholarship covering tuition and living expenses (Fulbright University); and she reached the top 5 for the interview round of the Nguyen Phuong Scholarship - the only 100% scholarship at Fulbright University.

According to Bao Chau, the factors that make an applicant's scholarship application stand out are not only academic achievements at school but also a combination of extracurricular activities, competitions, and meaningful stories and experiences.

With clear goals and exceptional effort, Bao Chau consistently achieves impressive academic results.

"I think it's important to know what you need and then focus your investment on those things instead of studying haphazardly. For example, when I identified my university goals, I carefully prepared my application by investing in English language certificates, GPA, and knowledge about the field I was aiming for," Bảo Châu said.

Besides the scholarships she has received, Chau is also very proud of the STEAM Project she founded. STEAM is an educational method centered around five fields: science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. This method emphasizes holistic development through hands-on practice and practical orientation.

Currently, STEAM Project is primarily operating in Ha Tinh province, with its main activity being a STEAM summer camp for teenagers in the area. The aim is to equip them with knowledge in STEAM fields as well as skills in critical thinking, creativity, public speaking, teamwork, and more.

Thanks to the efforts of Bao Chau and the members of the STEAM Project, the 2022 STEAM Summer Camp was a great success, with the participation of over 70 campers and parents from all over Ha Tinh province. The STEAM Summer Camp also provided financial support for campers from disadvantaged backgrounds and those living far from the city. This is a distinguishing feature compared to other summer camps.

Bao Chau said: "I've always wanted everyone to have access to education, so when organizing the summer camp, I tried to secure as much sponsorship as possible to bring positive value to the participants."

Sharing her future plans, Bao Chau said that she doesn't set a specific goal for herself but focuses on holistic development, creating an open, quick-witted, and flexible person. Therefore, the student always strives to travel more to learn more.

"Currently, studying in Vietnam is the most suitable option for me. This is also a stepping stone for me to create opportunities for myself and enter the international community within the next 3-4 years," Bao Chau expressed.
