The center of Muong Xen commune (former Ky Son district) was submerged in water on the night of July 22.
Due to prolonged heavy rain, rising water levels of the Nam Mo River and the release of floodwaters from hydroelectric plants, many areas in Muong Xen Commune (former Ky Son District) and along National Highway 7 were severely flooded.
According to the reporter's records, along National Highway 7, especially the section flowing through the center of Muong Xen commune of Ky Son district (old) was deeply flooded. The sudden rise in water paralyzed traffic routes, isolated many residential areas, and swept away many valuable items of the local people.
Faced with complicated developments, local authorities have placed warning signs at deeply flooded areas and deployed forces at both ends of the route to ensure safety for people and vehicles.
According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province, as of 7:00 p.m. on July 22, the impact of storm No. 3 has caused prolonged heavy rain in Nghe An province. Therefore, many localities in this province have suffered heavy damage to houses, crops, traffic infrastructure, and electricity.
Specifically, the flood has left one person missing. Currently, local authorities are coordinating with the border guard station, local forces and families to search for the victims.
Regarding housing, the whole province had 161 damaged houses in the communes of Bach Ngoc, Quang Dong, Yen Thanh, Vinh Tuong, Yen Thanh, Chau Binh, Nhon Mai, Yen Hoa, Na Loi, Huu Kiem, Muong Xen. There were 48 flooded houses in the communes of Chau Binh, Nghia Hung, Nhon Mai.
Regarding agricultural production, 174.7 hectares of rice, 286 hectares of rice seedlings; 437 hectares of crops; 114 hectares of perennial crops were damaged; 24.8 hectares of ponds and lakes were damaged.
The storm also broke 30 electric poles (including 1 medium and high voltage pole, 29 low voltage poles).
In addition, the floods also caused dozens of national and provincial highways to have their slopes eroded and many bridges were flooded and impassable. Two bridges were damaged by floods in Nhon Mai and Muong Quang communes.
