Burst into tears because of the lingering pain of the unfinished performance

- Looking back at your journey at Sing! Asia, how do you feel?
The Sing! Asia journey made me happy, joyful and proud. I felt that what I experienced during the journey was really worth it. It was not only the result but also the love from everyone.
My goal in joining the contest is not for titles or rankings. I just want to share the beauty of Vietnamese culture through music , fashion and personality.
So when I see the goal partly accomplished, I am satisfied with what I have shown.
- Many audiences expected Phuong My Chi to win the championship after her high achievements in the rounds. The photo of her crying backstage made everyone feel even more regretful...
I understand that feeling, especially when I came in third, only 0.8 points behind the second place. But looking back, if I came in second and continued to be close to the champion, the expectations and comparisons would continue.
In any competition, if I only focused on the results, winning or losing and pushing myself to achieve that, I would not be able to enjoy my journey.
On the final night, I participated with a relaxed mentality because I wanted to bring the best state and enjoy that stage.
The reason I cried backstage was not because I regretted my ranking. I was just sad that I finished in third place and didn't have the chance to perform the final song with the folk band.
I can never forget the image of the uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters in the traditional music band, all dressed up, scarves on their shoulders, ready for that performance. The feeling of not being able to sing the last song was what haunted me the most.

- A journey with lots of joy but also hardship and difficulty, are there any behind-the-scenes stories that the audience doesn't know yet that you can reveal?
My journey in the competition was of course colorful. Besides the moments of sublimation and confidence on stage, there were also many tense and difficult moments backstage.
I competed in China, which is not my home country, so there was a language barrier. This was my first time meeting and working with the show's crew, so it was difficult to understand each other.
When I sang with a live band, I had trouble with the prepared arrangement. Of course, there were moments of extreme frustration and weakness because many things did not go as I wanted.
The motivation that helps me overcome is the audience at home. Before going on stage or finishing a performance, I always think about them and wonder what they think of my performance. In a strange place, I always look for faith and support from my homeland.
- How do you face the most uncertain and difficult moments?
I am the type of person who, if I see a problem, I will solve it immediately. Sometimes, I blame myself for doing this or that too much.
What if on stage, I don't do well, have problems or encounter bad things?
I had a problem with the Tuy Am performance. The fan dance was not perfect, which made me quite embarrassed. I just wish I had had the chance to change the plan sooner.
Last minute changes always leave people feeling uneasy and the results are not what I expected. This is also a lesson for me.
Many people say Phuong My Chi is noisy and looks "weird"!

- From a folk singer, now becoming a typical face of the young artist generation, looking back on the path she has taken, does Phuong My Chi feel she is on the right track?
I believe that the artistic path never has a destination, it will last forever, unless you don't want to do anything anymore. If you feel happy with the path you are on, it is definitely the right path.
Now I enjoy my artistic path. I feel magical, all the pressure is gone after I finish singing a song on stage.
I understand that every word, every melody I sing will be received by the audience. Therefore, I want to convey the best and most positive things.
- Phuong My Chi reached top 3 on the show “Sing! Asia” and is currently a prominent face on “Em xinh say hi”. Many viewers commented “this is Phuong My Chi’s time”, what do you say?
(Laughs) I am surprised and grateful for the compliments from the audience. My musical journey began when I was 10 years old, not just a day or two.
Every day, I tell myself to work hard, not allowing myself to be negligent in work or life. I don't think about being ambitious or wanting anything more at this time.
In my head, there was only one thought: "Ah! Now that the audience loves me, I have to try to maintain myself." I wanted to keep what the audience was familiar with and loved, without losing the essence or image of the girl Phuong My Chi.

- What have you learned and changed the most when faced with opportunities and pressures in recent times?
I am calmer. Before, when I had a problem, I often panicked and was easily influenced by other people's opinions, leading to a loss of control.
Participating in 2 programs at the same time, I learned from my teammates how to maintain balance and understand my importance in a group.
If I lose focus, my negligence can affect the results that the whole team has spent a lot of time and effort preparing.
Of course, I'm only 22 years old so I'm allowed to be true to my emotions. Sometimes I can't stand it anymore, I explode, then calm down, try to face and adapt to solve the problem.
- What about people who don't understand Chi, what would you say to them?
When I participated in Em xinh say hi , some people commented that I was noisy and looked “weird”. After filming, I went back and watched it and thought to myself if I had done anything inappropriate for the show. It is true that there are a few things I should consider, think about and change if I could do it again.
I often joke that Phuong My Chi on Em xinh is only 70% crazy. In real life, I joke a lot more, everything is more restrained on air.
This is a reality show so it needs real moments. The filming process is very hard and stressful, I just want to be talkative to make everyone happy, creating a positive atmosphere for the crew.
