Having lived by fishing for more than 30 years, old farmer Dao Van Duong, residing in Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district ( Dong Thap ) understands very well the seasonal changes and transformations of the Mekong River. Mr. Duong said that the Tien River water changes from clear to red, meaning it is carrying alluvium from upstream, and accordingly, shrimp, crab, fish, prawns... also appear in large numbers. Taking advantage of this opportunity, since the beginning of June until now, he and many local people have been clinging to the river to make a living.
"Every day, I catch 5-6kg of fish and shrimp. Besides improving my meals, I also sell them at the market. Hopefully, this year the flood season will come early and bring many products, so that farmers in the border area can have more income," Mr. Duong shared.

According to Director of Dong Thap Province Hydrometeorological Station Khuong Le Binh, the water level measured at Tan Chau station on June 9 was 1.12m, 0.07m higher than yesterday; at Hong Ngu City station (Hong Ngu canal), the water level measured was 1.02m, 0.07m higher than yesterday....

According to the Dong Thap Province Hydrometeorological Station, the water level in the middle reaches of the Mekong River, including Laos and Cambodia, is 0.5 to 1.5 meters higher than the same period last year. The water level in other places in Dong Thap Province mainly changes according to the tides... This year's flood season is forecast to come earlier than the same period last year.
