According to a report from the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), water levels in hydropower reservoirs in the Northern and Southeastern regions have increased slightly; the Central Highlands region is fluctuating slightly; and the North Central and South Central coastal regions have decreased slightly compared to yesterday.
Reservoirs in river basins and small streams in the northern mountainous region have high water levels ( Dien Bien , Lai Chau, Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang).
Large hydropower reservoirs in the Northern region are generating electricity according to the operating procedures and power generation mobilization plans of the managing agency; in the Southeast and Central Highlands regions, reservoir water levels are being raised, and electricity generation is being carried out according to the operating procedures and power generation mobilization plans of the managing agency.
Small hydropower reservoirs in the Northern region are increasing their power generation capacity and lowering water levels, preparing for floods.
Currently, only two lakes nationwide have low water levels: Thac Ba and Ban Ve.
Hydrological forecasts indicate that water inflow into reservoirs in the Northern, Central Highlands, and Southeastern regions will fluctuate slightly over the next 24 hours; while in the North Central and South Central coastal regions, it will decrease.
According to an updated assessment by the Electricity Regulatory Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in the South, due to the onset of the rainy season, most reservoirs have good water inflow, exceeding the multi-year average. The Central region shows variations across different areas (good water inflow in some hydropower reservoirs in Quang Nam and Da Nang provinces), while other areas have poor water inflow, below 50% of the multi-year average.
In the northern region, water levels remain significantly lower than the multi-year average, generally ranging from 30-45% of the multi-year average. Average daily electricity production (including small hydropower) during the week is approximately 263.8 million kWh/day.
According to the Electricity Regulatory Authority, from July 7-13, due to the prolonged heatwave, the electricity demand in the North recorded its highest ever levels of power and electricity consumption, at 23,094 MW and 465.9 million kWh.
Regarding nationwide load, the average daily output reached 920.7 million kWh, approximately 39.9 million kWh higher than the previous week; the peak power during the week reached 45,474 MW, the highest since the beginning of the year, 1,723 MW higher than the previous week.
Total electricity production across the national power grid, including imported electricity, during this period reached 6.129 billion kWh, an increase of 3.59% compared to the previous week; the daily average was 875.6 million kWh.
The total electricity production of the national system from the beginning of the year to July 13th reached 147.024 billion kWh, 1.35% higher than the same period in 2022, and achieving 51.68% of the annual plan.
