Initially, One Piece achieved a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with just a few reviews; however, the current rating has dropped to 79% from 14 reviews (critics' section).

The film is an adaptation of the popular manga series of the same name by author Eiichiro Oda, who also participated in the creative process of the project. He is joined by producers Matt Owens, Steven Maeda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements. The film features a cast including Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy – captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro – pirate hunter, Emily Rudd as Nami – navigator, Jacob Gibson as Usopp – sharpshooter, and Taz Skylar as Sanji – the crew's chef.
The live-action adaptation of One Piece remains faithful to the original manga by author Eiichiro Oda, recounting the journey of the protagonist to obtain the treasure of the same name across the oceans. The cast is diverse, with only one Japanese actor, Mackenyu. All eight episodes have been released on the same day.

In the audience section, 96% expressed their liking for the film, with over 500 positive reviews, mostly giving it 5 stars and numerous glowing compliments.
However, there were also some less-than-positive reviews. Rolling Stone magazine argued that the first season of One Piece became increasingly chaotic as it progressed.
