The Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee emphasized the need to effectively implement policies related to residential land, production land and housing for ethnic minorities, narrowing the gap between regions, localities and ethnic groups in the province.

Improve the material and spiritual life of people in ethnic minority areas

According to Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, the 4th Provincial Congress of Ethnic Minorities has the task of summarizing and evaluating the situation and results of ethnic work, ethnic policies and patriotic emulation movements in ethnic minority areas.

Honor, commend and reward outstanding collectives and individuals, while continuing to affirm the consistent policy of our Party and State on ethnic issues and national unity.

The Congress is also a forum for exchange, discussion, consensus building and strengthening the strong belief of ethnic people in the leadership of the Party and State, arousing national pride, self-reliance, determination to unite together to build and defend the Fatherland. The Congress will also adopt a resolution letter to determine the goals, tasks of ethnic work and ethnic policies for the period 2024 - 2029.

Mr. Dinh Van Lung - Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Binh Dinh province said that in the period of 2019 - 2024, the implementation of social policies in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province has brought many positive results.

The province's policy and legal system continues to be improved, creating a legal foundation for implementing social security.

The rights and levels of social welfare and social security have been expanded for the people; many socio-economic development goals and targets have been basically completed and exceeded the plan. The material and spiritual life of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas continues to improve.

In agricultural, forestry and fishery production, the province has focused on investment solutions to increase infrastructure investment and promote technical consulting support activities in cultivation and livestock breeding.

Promote the application of science and technology in agricultural production towards goods linked to the consumer market; form value chains linked to product consumption, promote the transformation of crop structure towards bringing high economic value.

From the capital source for implementing the National Target Programs and other programs and projects of the Central and local levels, attention has been paid to investing in the construction of over 604 infrastructure works in ethnic minority areas to serve production and people's lives, with a total cost of 1,172 billion VND. Up to now, communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have basically completed essential infrastructure works.

The grassroots political system in mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas in the province has been increasingly improved, improving operational efficiency, especially the capacity to implement the Party's policies and resolutions, and the State's policies and laws. Patriotic emulation movements and campaigns have been carried out synchronously and effectively by all classes of people, contributing to the effective implementation of new rural construction targets and resolutions of district party congresses.

The Congress also seriously acknowledged the limitations in the process of operation during this term. Delegates contributed many opinions, shared experiences and good practices to improve the effectiveness of ethnic work and policies in the new term, such as: Directing and implementing the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021 - 2025; mobilizing ethnic minority youth in Bok Toi Commune (Hoai An District) to overcome difficulties, start a business and establish a career; experience in teaching, propaganda and mobilization, improving the quality of education for students in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; promoting the role of prestigious people in the work of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Bana K'riem people in Vinh Thanh District...

Promote the effective role of village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee requested that in the coming time, Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay more attention to ethnic affairs and policies. Promote the precious tradition of solidarity of ethnic groups in production and life; strengthen the role of village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in mobilizing people to well implement the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, actively develop production, and build united and developed residential areas.

Strengthen and widely launch patriotic emulation movements associated with "Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle", mobilizing ethnic minorities to actively participate in implementing socio-economic development programs and projects, and vocational training.

Pay attention to comprehensive development of cultural and social fields, education quality, and health care for the people; mobilize ethnic minorities to preserve and promote their traditional values, and eliminate backward customs.

Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations need to pay more attention to the thoughts, aspirations and legitimate opinions of ethnic minorities.

Innovate the content and methods of implementing ethnic work to suit the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

Authorized by the Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee, Mr. Y Thong - Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee awarded certificates of merit to 6 groups and individuals; awarded commemorative medals for the cause of ethnic development to 5 individuals. At the same time, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province Pham Anh Tuan also awarded 26 certificates of merit to 26 groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing ethnic policies from 2019 - 2024.
