Storm No. 8 enters the East Sea, Ministry of Construction requests 24/7 duty, ready for rescue

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 8 in the East Sea, on September 19, the Ministry of Construction issued an urgent dispatch, requesting relevant agencies and units to proactively respond, especially in the maritime and waterway sectors.

Dispatch No. 62/CD-BXD issued by the Ministry of Construction to implement Dispatch No. 02/CD-BCĐ-BNNMT dated September 18, 2025 of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee on storm response.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the tropical depression has strengthened into a storm (storm No. 8) at noon on September 18, 2025.

As of 4:00 p.m. on September 18, 2025, the center of the storm was located at approximately 20.1 degrees North latitude; 117.9 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the storm reached level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, storm No. 8 will continue to move rapidly in the Northwest direction (15-20km/h) and continue to strengthen, reaching level 9, gusting to level 11, and will be located in the southern coastal area of ​​Guangdong province (China).

Ministry of Construction urgently directs units

The Ministry of Construction has requested the Vietnam Maritime Administration and Vietnam Maritime Electronic Information One Member Limited Liability Company to urgently carry out key tasks to ensure maritime safety:

Direct the Coastal Information Station system to monitor, update, and immediately process information.

Timely notify the location, developments, and direction of storm No. 8 to vehicles and captains of ships and boats operating at sea.

Help ships proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.

Mission of Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration

Direct the Maritime Port and Inland Waterway Authorities to continuously monitor the storm's developments to notify and guide ships when granting permission for ships to leave port.

Count and strictly manage going out to sea.

Maintain regular contact with vessels operating in the affected area (including transport ships and cruise ships) to promptly handle any possible adverse situations.

Direct the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center to prepare forces and vehicles to participate in search and rescue when ordered.

The Ministry of Construction requires the above agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty.

Units are also required to regularly report to the Civil Defense Command of the Ministry of Construction.
