Following the success of the previous two conferences, this conference continues to be a playground for exchange, experience sharing and connection between educators , researchers, and those interested in the field of STEM education in Vietnam and internationally.

With the theme “STEM Education - The Foundation of Innovation”, the conference agreed that STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning, in which principled academic concepts are integrated with real-world lessons, where students apply knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in specific contexts, helping to connect schools, communities, workplaces and global organizations, thereby developing competencies in the STEM field and with that being able to compete in the new economy .

Speaking at the national conference, Mr. Do Tien Thinh, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), said that NIC co-organized this conference to find new answers to old questions about solving STEM problems in the current context. He hopes that through this conference, recommendations will be systematized that can help increase the budget for STEM education.

On this occasion, Mr. Thinh mentioned the STEM education model Armenia TUMO (no grades, no exams) - a start-up model that is being widely implemented by many countries in the world , including the US and Japan. Vietnam can consider this model. This is a model that is worth learning and implementing.

A special feature of this year's conference is the announcement of the STEM education publication - Policy, strategy and management in STEM education. It addresses teaching methods and testing to assess STEM competencies; developing integrated, interdisciplinary STEM education programs; applying technology (AI, Robotics, IoT...) in teaching and learning STEM; connecting models between schools, businesses and communities in STEM education; researching and implementing STEM education in localities, especially disadvantaged areas; integrating cultural factors and local context into STEM education activities.

Responding to a reporter from Nhan Dan Newspaper, Mr. Do Tien Thinh, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC) proposed that there should be a national program on STEM education so that this form of education can be popularized nationwide, creating a good foundation for high-quality human resources in the future, contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution 57/NQ-TW and at the same time committed that the center will promote its role as a bridge between units in STEM education in particular and innovation in general.

Discussing at the workshop, delegates from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, training units, localities, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Education and Training discussed and shared about effective models and methods of STEM education as well as artificial intelligence education associated with humanities education.

Sharing with Nhan Dan Newspaper on the sidelines of the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development Management (MSD), commented that STEM and AI education in Vietnam has not yet been systematically systematized to ensure effectiveness and applicability. STEM is a method of integrating science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects to enhance innovation capacity and solve practical problems. However, in the current general education program, we still teach separate subjects, focusing on theory, lacking applicability and interdisciplinary.
When it comes to STEM, we often think of competitions and experiential activities, instead of considering it as an innovative and creative educational method to train students' abilities. Similarly, AI education is still at the experimental level, without a competency framework and standard teaching system to synchronize in schools.
