(CT) - On the afternoon of October 2, the working delegation of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, led by Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, organized a delegation to survey the 2-phase super-intensive whiteleg shrimp farming model, applying high technology in key brackish water shrimp farming areas in Can Tho City.

The brackish water shrimp farming survey team of the agriculture and environment sector of Can Tho city came to survey the brackish water shrimp farming model of households in Lai Hoa commune, Can Tho city.

Accordingly, the Agriculture and Environment Survey Team visited the 2-stage super-intensive shrimp farming model, applying high technology of shrimp farming households in Lai Hoa commune and Long Phu commune ( Can Tho city). Here, the farming households informed the leaders of the Agriculture and Environment sector about the time of stocking whiteleg shrimp, the origin of the shrimp selected for stocking, the pond renovation process, how to take care of the shrimp according to each stage of shrimp development, advantages and difficulties when applying 2-stage super-intensive shrimp farming with high technology. How to prevent diseases on farmed shrimp at each time, especially when the weather is unusual such as hot or stormy for many days. The output of super-intensive shrimp farming is many times higher than that of traditional whiteleg shrimp farming.

For the 2-phase super-intensive shrimp farming model, applying high technology helps farmers control diseases well on farmed shrimp; large shrimp output; shrimp can be raised in many crops a year, contributing to increasing profits many times over, compared to traditional shrimp farming...

Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, inspected the development of two-stage super-intensive whiteleg shrimp farming, applying high technology at a shrimp pond of a household in Long Phu commune, Can Tho City.

Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, highly appreciated the fact that shrimp farming households have boldly invested in 2-stage super-intensive whiteleg shrimp farming, applying high technology at the household level, contributing to increasing shrimp production and increasing household income. Thereby, contributing to increasing brackish water shrimp production of Can Tho City by the end of 2025, with the target of reaching more than 233,800 tons, with an export turnover of 1 billion USD.

For the 2025 shrimp crop to be successful, Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh recommends that shrimp farmers strictly follow the crop calendar recommended by the industry, choose shrimp breeds with clear origin, pay attention to protecting farmed shrimp during the current rainy season, and pay attention to the amount of feed given to shrimp during the rainy season. Continue to maintain and expand the 2-phase shrimp farming area, apply high technology so that farmers always have a successful shrimp farming season...

Up to now, the brackish water shrimp farming area in Can Tho city is 48,720 hectares (white leg shrimp 37,250 hectares, black tiger shrimp 11,470 hectares); the harvested brackish water shrimp output has reached 167,700 tons.
