RT reported on June 2 that candidate Karol Nawrocki, backed by the Law and Justice Party, defeated Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski in the second round of voting on June 1 and was elected President of Poland.
According to the National Election Commission, Mr. Nawrocki won 50.89% of the votes, while candidate Trzaskowski received 49.11%.
Voter turnout was 71.63%, the highest in recent Polish elections. Mr. Nawrocki received strong support from older voters and in rural areas.

Mr. Nawrocki campaigned on a platform of Catholic values, national sovereignty and rebalancing Poland's relationship with the European Union (EU). He heads the Institute of National Remembrance, a state-funded research center that promotes Polish history...
Meanwhile, candidate Trzaskowski is a senior figure in Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's Civic Alliance. He has campaigned for stronger ties with the EU, promoted judicial reform, eased abortion restrictions, etc.
Both Polish presidential candidates have pledged to increase defense spending, responding to US President Donald Trump's call for Europe to contribute more to NATO, and supporting continued aid to Ukraine.
However, while Mr Trzaskowski supports Ukraine joining NATO, saying it is vital for Poland's security, Mr Nawrocki opposes it, warning that it could drag the organisation into war with Russia.
"Poland needs a president who will defend our Constitution and our values," Mr. Nawrocki said during his previous campaign.
