Mr. Le Cong Ly holds the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.

On the morning of April 29th, the Can Tho City People's Council, 11th term, 2026-2031, held its second session (a specialized session) to consider and decide on several important issues. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People's Council, Dong Van Thanh, and the Vice Chairmen of the City People's Council presided over the session.

In his opening remarks at the session, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council Dong Van Thanh stated that the City People's Council would consider, discuss, and approve 17 draft resolutions related to various sectors and fields, aiming to concretize the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws for implementation in the city; and also to carry out personnel work within its authority.

Regarding personnel matters, the City People's Council considered and elected an additional Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee for the 2026-2031 term. As a result, Mr. Le Cong Ly, Head of the Can Tho Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks Management Board, was elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee.

At the session, delegates also discussed and unanimously adopted 18 resolutions related to personnel, certification, investment, economy , budget, education, and vocational retraining.

Identifying 2026 as the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the first few months of 2026 as a period of breakthrough and acceleration to strive for the completion of socio-economic targets for the whole year, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council Dong Van Thanh requested the City People's Committee, departments, and localities to continue to promote a high sense of responsibility, unity, innovation, and creativity, maintain administrative discipline and order, focus on decisive leadership, and closely follow the programs and plans of the Central Government and the City Party Committee.

To achieve an economic growth rate of 10% or higher in 2026, the Chairman of the City People's Council requested that all levels and departments urgently implement the resolutions recently passed by the City People's Council; balance and allocate funds, and provide guidance on implementing policies for teachers, children, and preschool education institutions; regularly monitor, urge, inspect, and resolve difficulties, especially regarding the disbursement of investment capital and funds for policy implementation; proactively resolve obstacles arising in the practical implementation of the two-tiered local government system, and pay attention to professional training for commune-level officials to ensure smooth operation of notarization activities at the grassroots level.

Leveraging the city's potential and advantages, especially its land resources, including water bodies, the city should convert planted forests to environmentally friendly projects, ensuring they align with planning to develop renewable energy sources. This will both protect the environment and serve the needs of important infrastructure projects.
